Hi Matthew. You're conflating the specialty of Acute Medicine with the process of the acute take
The take is undertaken by (G)IM docs and Shape of Training mandated many specialties gain experience in this. The concerns re service provision are real, but not caused by AIM at all

Standing room only for the POCUS cases that changed my practice session at #SAMontheCAM
Cracking cases and presentations!
FAMUS providing a prize for the most popular presentation and POCUS poster at the conference...good luck!
@acutemedicine
For anyone interested, here is the link to the finalised article
POCUS reduces by a fair way the demand on downstream radiology services
Open access so share widely!

Pretty chuffed with this work.
We show that having POCUS trained clinicians performing and reporting scans as part of acute care leads to a dramatic reduction in departmental radiology requests. We help not hinder!
More reasons to embed this in daily practice where possible...

Ever wondered if POCUS leads to more work for radiology departments? The answer is no!
Read the clear evidence that an internal medicine POCUS service dramatically reduces downstream radiology requests, by @NHSmallwood and colleagues 👇

A pleasure to teach on this course with friends from across EFIM.
We hope the delegates enjoyed it as much as we did to teach them!

All is ready for the ultrasound #POCUS workshop at #23ECIM
@Sociedad_SEMI @GTECOSEMI @yaletung @SonoSamMD
This is such a great idea. Improving the visibility of research in Acute Medicine, and giving people access to it is a major ambition of AIM
Please spread the word far+wide and sign up! I've no doubt being engaged with these initiatives leads to better unit + patient outcomes
Calling #AcuteMedicine units. @jfdwolff and I are starting an online #JournalClub to discuss research relevant to our work in acute medicine. The plan is that acute medical units across the country can ‘tune in’, via MS Teams, every other month, over lunch time.
There can be no better opportunity to learn critical care ultrasound than with @ICUltrasonica
Don't miss this chance!
Back in the day I did a fellowship like this and it was the best career decision of my life...
Want to learn #POCUS from scratch? Fancy extending your skillset to include the #wholebody? Or even crack #FUSICHD? Then look no further. @HHFTnhs has one of the best critical care ultrasound training ecosystems in the UK. And we are hiring. jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/jobadv…

1/3 With one month until Medicine24 takes place, we’re looking at some of the fantastic speakers you can hear from at our flagship medical conference. @drkathrynmannix will give a Keynote Lecture on ‘talking about dying’.
People reading this thread and saying 'obviously heart failure on CXR, POCUS added nothing'
Welcome to hindsight bias! The team at the time felt this was CAP and required fluids
I see this scenario at least weekly. So we're either all really bad, or POCUS really is helpful!
First time doing a #POCUS thread (and a little bit nervous about it!), but had a case over the weekend that once again reminded me how useful ultrasound is at the front door. Images posted with full consent. (1/5)
Excellent opportunity for @acutemedicine interested clinicians to share interesting POCUS cases, present at a national conference and network with like-minded folk.
All in beautiful Belfast in May!
Spread the word. Abstract submission closes Feb 15th
Are you interested in both #POCUS and @acutemedicine?
Do you have a cracking case to share?
SAM are running a POCUS short cases session at #SAMBelfast and we want you there to present - all clinicians welcome!
Details here: tinyurl.com/SAMPOCUS
🚨Abstracts close 15/2🚨
We have a cross-specialty faculty from Intensive Care, Emergency and @acutemedicine delivering top class #POCUS education (I would say that, though, wouldn't I)
Great fun and a bunch of really engaged attendees making a cracking day

We are taking FAMUS and FUSIC heart to Dublin today @ThePillarDublin

Hopefully the start of a long and fruitful collaboration!

Hi all in @acutemedicine and #cardiotwitter. I wonder if anyone can help with the query below?
I'm on SDEC this week and atypical chest pain with just detectable trop 'for repeat' forms a fair part of the work. Would love to understand!
I need some #cardiotwitter / @acutemedicine help please
Can someone explain why ESC NSTEMI 2020 mandates 0 and 1hr trop for chest pain regardless of symptom onset?
Why does a trop below the 99th centile (but above limit of detection) >6hr post symptoms no longer 'rule out'?
