What is the impact of stock market bubbles on competition and output? This paper shows that, when firms issue overvalued stocks, bubbles can reduce markups and have crowding-in effects on investment and output econtheory.org/ojs/index.php…

Yes, and a great reference for the Ph.D. class I am teaching.
Efe Ok's book-in-progress "Measure and Probability Theory with Economic Applications" (currently available for free on his website) is really lovely.

My take: most economists are good at theory, or econometrics, or empirical work, and write papers in one of these areas. In contrast, many top 5 papers are strong in *more than one* of these areas. To get a top 5, working broadly or coauthoring strategically can help #EconTwitter

0/ A holiday economic theory reading list. Some of my favorite pieces on theory that can be read with minimal sweat, but with the maximal intellectual reward. In no particular order:

Same feeling!
(The 6th chapter of Myerson’s game theory textbook keeps amazing me. It’s a journey on Bayesian mechanism design. I’ve seen many textbooks and yet every paragraph is fascinating. Maths plus high-level stuff. Love it.)

We are establishing Market Design Center at University of Tokyo (where I will begin this fall). We aim to use economics and other disciplines such as e.g., computer science to improve society, and vice versa.
