Brewers third round pick Kyle Jones hit his first professional home run today for Low-A Wilson.
In his first six games, the Florida product has recorded four multi-hit performances.

Two batters later, Kyle Jones has his first professional RBI as well, driving in Sabathia
People see the draft, the SEC school and the successful spring, but few know the struggle.
Kyle & Justin weren’t “highly” recruited out of HS. Like a lot of players they got overlooked by the Power 4 Schools.
However what both guys did have was a drive that can’t be measured.

Both returned from injury to have great college careers at the highest level of college baseball.
Two guys that were overlooked. Now both have a chance to pursue their careers at the professional level because of their hard work, great families and believing in themselves.
It’s not about where you start it’s about how you finish!
Proud of both Kyle and Justin for their accomplishments on the field and more importantly being great young men off the field.
Excited to continue to follow their careers!

Justin Byrd (RHP, Georgia) – 2026 MLB Draft Scouting Case Local kid. Dog fan made good. Transferred from D-II and became a key multi-inning reliever for a College World Series team. 2026 Season: 6-2, 3.73 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, .195 BA, 77 K in 62.1 IP (30.9% K-rate, 5.6% BB-rate). Postseason Hero: 2-0, 0.79 ERA in 5 NCAA/CWS appearances (11.1 IP, 1 ER, 12 K). Shut down Texas for 5 scoreless innings in Omaha to reach the semis. Clutch performer. Stuff & Future Indicators:
Fastball: 92-96, touches 97 mph in relief with good ride
Quality slider + cutter + changeup with late depth → legit 3-pitch mix
Plus command, repeatable athletic delivery, gets downhill with intent
High whiff rate on offspeed, low walks, multi-inning capable
Why he should be a 4th-6th round pick:
Checks every box for a polished college reliever — performance under pressure, swing-and-miss stuff, command, clean mechanics, and makeup. Not the highest upside arm, but a high-floor guy who can move fast and pitch meaningful innings in the big leagues. Teams drafting for bullpen help that actually contributes should take a hard look. Georgia Dawg who delivers in big moments — that’s the kind of player you want in your org.

Gotta give serious consideration to @JustinByrd_ as @BaseballUGA MVP of this postseason run. With Byrd’s performance tonight vs Texas the former @NOHS_Baseball star has now worked 12.2 scoreless IP of 3H ball with 14K in 5 relief apps in #Dawgs postseason. That’s Titan-ic!

First time in 53 years there were 2 shutouts on the same day in the College World Series

Justin Byrd has now matched Dylan Vigue with 4 innings of 2-hit, shutout ball tonight. That, friends, is a winning formula for Georgia. I believe @marketheridge called Byrd the best pitcher on Georgia's staff on yesterday's show, and I agreed. His FB/SL command is just so good.
