To have @hmtreasury see the work we do here @SHU_AWRC & across South Yorkshire is invaluable, we get to bring home the seismic shift we are making in the region & have that heard in Westminster. A genuine pleasure to host the group and thanks to @SouthYorksMCA for setting this up. #AWRC #TransformingLives
It was a pleasure to welcome @hmtreasury & @SouthYorksMCA to @SHU_AWRC today to demonstrate how our work in physical activity, health, and wellbeing benefits the South Yorkshire region by advancing innovation, skills and research, driving productivity and tackling inequalities

Big, new research out today from @jrf_uk & @wearenewlocal.
The #CostOfLivingCrisis is tipping more people into deep poverty. As national approaches fall short, how can partners across communities move from mitigation to tackling root causes?

For those of you who follow me for health reporting, bear with me as I have a thread that's not on my usual topics. My daughter goes to King Edward VII School (KES) in Sheffield. It's an historic school, the last local authority secondary in the city and a true comprehensive.

Pleased to see the below and a focus on science in the Chancellor's speech earlier.
Two areas the UK is doing poorly on. Two areas that need really bold policy thinking. But the how will be critical.

Fascinating thread on moves into and out of economic inactivity from low- and higher-paying jobs. Highlights the key role that employers have - in offering good jobs, flexible work, decent pay - in tackling labour market shortages.
There has been a lot of recent interest in the increase in economic inactivity in the UK. But what does it mean for low-paying jobs? This🧵summarises our blog exploring how inactivity has affected low-paying occupations (1/12) minimumwage.blog.gov.uk/2023….

This is particularly interesting in today's labour market stats by @EmploymtStudies - work intentions of inactive workers. Only a small percentage never intend to work again - many would consider it for the right role @tonywilsonIES @daniel_muir_36
Replying to @tonywilsonIES
We've also got a nice graph today via @daniel_muir_36 looking at work intentions for those economically inactive.
As well as the 1.7m who'd like a job now, there's 1.4 million who don't want a job now but expect to work in future (excluding students - it's 3.3m including them).
