Iconic moment captured between Cody Hopwood & Lachy Crouch last night. Under 30 NRL games between them. Gone from blue-bibs to Grand Final anchors in a matter of weeks. The passion of these young Knights is infectious & win or lose on Sunday this is a bond they’ll hold forever. #NRLGrandFinal

Looks like Uncle Nick agrees. Sam Walker and his management have been humbled. Likely ends up at an expansion team now. Say goodbye to premierships and rep jumpers. 👋
4yrs/$5m(ish) is more than fair for Walker. Too inconsistent to be on huge marquee money. There will be desperate clubs that’ll pay more, but would be gambling on him maturing into a sound game manager. Think he’d struggle in a bottom 8 side. Savala is class & ready to go.

Roosters may have won the premiership, but this is still true ⬇️ With the amount of ball & territory their forwards gave them, he should’ve been able to lead them to a comfortable victory. $1.8m is surely off the table. #NRLGrandFinal
The gap between Sam Walker’s best and his worst is far too wide. Has a lot of maturing to do as a footballer before he leads the Roosters to a premiership.

🗞️ Roosters vs Knights GF Prediction - First of all, absolutely love the Knights. What they’ve done this season has been remarkable & thrilling to watch. But think the bubble is about to burst, unfortunately. The Roosters performance last week was impeccable rugby league & they’ll be riding a massive wave of confidence. Definitely put it together at the right time. Maybe their best performance of the last couple of seasons with their discipline on show. The less whistle, the better for them. Can’t see any obvious weakness to target in the Roosters’ side, maybe McEwen 1 on 1 with Walker close to the line or perhaps Manu/Lucas in & around Wong. Toia has been covering everyone’s ass like a man possessed on that right side however. I’d say there will be a dependence on attacking through Ponga, Young & Co from poor field position but think Roosters defence matches up nicely if they play disciplined. Roosters can beat themselves though, so that’s far from a certainty. On the other hand, as well as they’ve been playing, incredibly resilient, but there are matchup concerns for the Knights across the park. Expecting DCE/Toia/Mark to really exploit Marzhew’s wing. He should be preparing for an absolute barrage of up and unders with Roosters looking for an advantage through Mark or general errors/indecisiveness from Greg. Expecting the Roosters’ pack led by Whyte & Radley will also be too strong. The yardage game should be largely in their favour which will allow the class of Walker & Tedesco to take advantage of forwards under fatigue & plenty of red zone ball. Hoping for a nail-biter, haven’t been this hype for a GF in quite a while, but I fear Knights will need a lot to go their way for that to happen. Teddy is my top pick for CC medal, this may be his last opportunity, so the script is in his favour. Radley & Whyte are great Smokeys along with Nawaqanitawase. IF the Knights were to win I think Sharpe would be my pick, without stating the obvious about Ponga’s chances as favourite. All the best to both teams & no matter what happens, the buzz around this week, this finals series & this Knights revival has been enthralling. Bring on Sunday. #NRLGrandFinal #NRLRoostersKnights

38 runs for 14 tackle busts and 385m in a #NRLGrandFinal. That really is something else. Congratulations Teddy & the Roosters.

You wouldn’t read about it. Reportedly a P-Plater doing burnouts/trying to drift has hit a bunch of fans at the Knights player send off… Team bus been diverted elsewhere so fans won’t have the chance to send off their heroes. Hoping the people are ok. What a horrible situation.
Crowds starting to depart at Wallsend where police are preparing for a rescue helicopter to land on the touch football fields. Team bus must have been diverted via another route. @newcastleherald

🏉🇦🇺 There’s something about this Knights run that feels bigger than footy. Maybe it’s the timing. Everyone’s under the pump, cost of living is caning us, the country feels a bit up to shit, and along comes this old-school underdog story in red and blue that people can actually relate to. And then there’s the nostalgia. Twenty-five years since their last premiership, it feels like a reminder of a different Newcastle - and a different Australia. A time that almost feels like a vague memory now. Footy felt tougher. Life felt simpler. Communities were more connected. The golden era of our country. It was the dial-up internet sound before that satisfying first song listen on a burnt CD. It was prepaid phone calls while lapping the main drag. It was tri-series one day cricket against Sri Lanka & the Windies. Rage, Video Hits and The Footy Show. Sanity at the shops. Commodores on 22” chrome wheels with hotdogs and subwoofers shaking the street pumping OutKast and Green Day. Surf brands everywhere. Frosted tips full of gel. School was a chicken & mayo roll for lunch and game of force ‘em backs. Those last minute assignments on Encarta Encyclopaedia and printing at the library. And Newcastle had its own iconic version of all of it. The pride in walking through Garden City with a fresh thread purchase carried in your Wild Surf Co bag. Sticking to the floor at Fanny’s and Surf City. Getting sloshed on slushies at Frostbites. Formals at the Harbourview Function Centre. Photos at King Edward Park, then disappearing off to some completely unhinged after-party in Merewether. And heading to Marathon stadium on the weekend. Newcastle was a bit rough around the edges. Working-class, iconic beaches, a bit country, pubs galore. That true Aussie lifestyle, and absolutely obsessed with its footy team. Maybe that’s why this run has hit so different. It feels like the Knights are back and they’ve brought a tragic yet breathtaking reminder of our younger days back with them. #NRLGrandFinal #NRLKnights #NRLRoosters #90sNostalgia #Australia #Aussie

Wahs fans pulling the "but it’s a regular season award" manoeuvre as though Holbrook & Knights’ season wasn’t all-time. Inheriting a wooden spoon team & taking them to the finals despite brutal injury toll is a miracle. A legendary coaching campaign denied its place in history. @MWSE_Bills

Honouring Jai Arrow at the footy was a nice, authentic gesture. The 100-game thing became borderline excessive. But this is now just distasteful. The bloke’s been acknowledged (rightly so). Fans don't need tragic reminders of sorrow shoved down their throats as entertainment. #NRLGrandFinal

Tragic that such an unfortunate accident is going to lead to a lifetime of regret for Phoenix Crossland. No one deserves a Grand Final berth more than him. Horrible set of circumstances on both sides. #NRLGrandFinal

If we want consistency - emotional, case by case officiating needs to be taken off the table. The injury was horrific, but you can’t demand uniformity & then accept new precedents in a Prelim. That’s contradiction. Approaching things rationally is what will bring consistency.
Vossy is adamant that Phoenix Crossland should not have been sent off - what do you think? 📻 Sydney's SEN1170AM // Brisbane's SENQ693AM // @TEMPUR
