Could not agree more with this assessment because sometimes, it's the same in the U.S. The hope is that Japan's Gen Z will pushback against this, but will they be as motivated as Gen Z across the rest of the world like Kenya, Spain, France, Indonesia, India, Brazil & Serbia?

こういう感覚って、私が子供の頃からまったく変わっていないんですね。 日本人は特別に素晴らしい。日本人ほど親切で礼儀正しい国民はいない。世界中から尊敬されている。 でも、海外に行けば、親切な人も礼儀正しい人も普通にいます。 昔から、日本のテレビでは外国人タレントに「日本はどうですか？」「日本人の女の子はどうですか？」と聞いていました。 相手が礼儀として褒めれば、それが世界の日本に対する評価であるかのように喜ぶ。 外国人が一人、日本を褒めただけで「やっぱり日本は素晴らしい」と大騒ぎする。 世界から尊敬されていると言いながら、その証拠を外国人のお世辞に求める。 この感覚こそ、私には不思議でなりません。 世界を知らないというより、世界を自分たちに都合よくしか見ようとしない。 本当に、いつまでこんな自画自賛的な島国根性なんでしょうね。

My descent into the Corman-Poe series continued last nite with THE PREMATURE BURIAL (1962) and it's pretty good! The finale was fantastic, but Hazel Court's 'heel turn' left much to be desired. Still a fun time regardless.
