Maybe your version of hope is sitting in the darkness with the one who willingly placed himself in the darkness on your behalf.

It’s incredibly challenging when Christians on various sides think the other side is delusional, blind, trapped, etc.
How do we know who is being faithful to God?
The litmus test, I believe, is simple:
Love. Cruciform love.
That’s how we know.
Silas just had to explain to me what a rhombus was.
I only made it to first grade before he brought back work that I couldn’t help him with.
If your pastor creates messages by saying, “I know this passage relates to something else, but….,” then get a new pastor.
Lord, have mercy.
Rescue operation continues in Kryvyi Rih on the site of Russian missiles' hits. Preliminary, two ballistic missiles. Floors four through nine of the residential building have been completely destroyed. The work is difficult – parts of the building's structure were falling down. The terrorists also targeted the university building and the administrative building. As of now, five people are reported dead, including a child and her mother. My condolences! Dozens of people are injured and traumatized, all of them are being provided with the necessary assistance.
More than 350 people are involved in the rescue operation – I thank everyone who is saving lives and helping people!

'Biblical manhood' bros:
"The church / country needs strong, bold, manly men like Jesus and Paul who are ready to fight!"
Literally Jesus:
"I am gentle and lowly of heart."
"If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also."
"Put your sword away."
We visited PHX. It gave us: record heat, hours and hours in a car, overpriced breakfast food, tan overload (from paint, not the sun), the stomach bug, fraudulent charges, and a great time with friends and family.
We miss the people, not the place. Please, come visit us instead.

The primary deception that seems foundational to many is the strong belief that the kingdom of God is an external one, here and now, measured by human standards. Power, large numbers, fame, and global acclaim are presumed to equal God’s blessings.

If you have not watched “Shiny Happy People” on Amazon, do. If you are in the evangelical circles, please, you really should. Most importantly, we need to consider the breadth of IBLP’s influence and teachings, and ask how this affects what we see happening today...
Only NYC can booo Aaron Boone on the way out to change the pitcher and then immediately give said pitcher a standing ovation for his performance.
What. A. Baseball. IQ. 👏🏻

“God accepts our desires as though they were a great value. So let us not be apathetic in our asking.”
— St. Gregory Nazianzen
In church youth group growing up, the message was that you can’t trust your desires. That you can’t trust yourself. I learned to think of myself as a ticking sin bomb waiting to explode.
It took many years and a lot of work to dig out of that mess. And it took re-discovering a more beautiful way even in the Christian tradition, the voices of saints like Gregory Nazianzen (died 390 AD) and the contemplative tradition of the church to awaken me to the depths of goodness, dignity, and holy desire not just as some “therapeutic” import to the faith (as I was often told) but as the inheritance of every image-bearer and all whose lives are hidden with Christ in God.
