Whenever I get impatient with a minibus taxi, I try remind myself that there are 15 passengers in the minibus just trying to get to work or get home. It could be that passenger's 4th taxi if the day.
And so often, a taxi driver will be the first person to let you out. Maybe that's a Cape Town thing?
And if let the driver out, more often than not they'll wave to stay thanks.
Of course taxi drivers take chances and drive aggressively, but it must be way scarier to actually be in there.
But that driver doesn't earn any money until he/she hits a minimum of pick ups, generally no salary, no wage.
For around 15 to 16 million South Africans every day, a Toyota Quantum is the only way to try find a job, get to work 6 days a week, get home at night and feed their families, and then do it all again the next day.
And because of the legacy of the Group Areas Act, which was devastatingly effective in Cape Town in part due to the unique geography, segregation which is now reinforced by Cape Town's horrendous property prices around the mountain and seaboard, the average taxi passenger has to travel massive distances to get to the only economic hub here in the Western Cape.
I haven't driven in Gauteng much since I moved to Cape Town, so I'm not sure what it's like up there.
But I feel if we all show each other a bit of patience, that can't be a negative thing :)
Be safe everyone, have a good week.

What is wrong here? Is she not allowed to get tenders from government and also fight for illegal immigration?

Once a politician starts speaking like this, it's means he has been bought.
Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma is misleading people about our Ward 58 Councillor Candidate in the City of Joburg.
She can't have her cake and eat it too.
We will #VoteAmaselaOut on 4 November 2026. We will not be distracted.
