A Message to the American People: An official U.S. document reveals a new proposed $5 billion arms sale to the Saudi regime, including more than 10,000 aerial bombs, despite the humanitarian tragedies and atrocities committed against women and children throughout the war on Yemen. Washington’s continued supply of these weapons to the Saudi regime places the United States under grave moral and legal responsibility for any crimes committed with them. It further adds to its bloody record of supporting wars that have claimed countless civilian lives in Yemen, Gaza, and across the region, while potentially exposing American interests to even greater risks. This raises a fundamental question: What is the justification for spending American taxpayers’ money to fuel wars and prolong conflicts when their devastating consequences ultimately affect American citizens themselves? Over the past years, enormous arsenals of American and Western weapons, including some far more lethal and technologically advanced than those in this proposed deal, have been deployed against Yemen without achieving a decisive military victory. These new arms deals will neither change our people's defensive position nor weaken their determination to uphold their legitimate rights and national sovereignty. Furthermore, any expansion of the war could push ground battles into Saudi territory, potentially resulting in more American-made weapons and military equipment-including weapons supplied under these new deals-falling into the hands of Yemeni forces. Similar incidents have occurred during the war, involving American-made military equipment, including Abrams tanks, Bradley armored vehicles, guided missiles, and other weapons, ammunition, and military hardware. Washington must recognize the serious risks and consequences of further escalation. Ending the aggression, halting military arms support for Saudi operations, and respecting Yemen’s sovereignty would serve everyone far better than pursuing arms deals that deepen human suffering, widen the scope of conflict, and ultimately impose consequences on all parties- particularly those who continue to support and prolong the war.
