It's that time again folks! If you liked the game or just like my tunes, consider tossing a couple bucks my way at bandcamp!

you cant upgrade your computer parts because memory manufacturers and chip makers have exited the retail space in favor of ai companies, which have pre bought all of their stock in order to put it in warehouses where it'll never be used. what a farce
Business Insider confirms it: Amazon has warehouses of GPUs that can’t be installed, and is buying them so far in advance that a supply chain team said they “didn’t have a clear forecasted path” to installing them.

I was so scared for so long of being seen as pretentious.
It's kind of gauche for an artist to talk about what their work is supposed to mean, but I think I designed the game to be so unassuming that I failed to prepare people for the kind of story Carter's Quest is trying to be

somehow this one was more humiliating to write than the "my game flopped" posts were. im shy about the fact i read books. 26 year old man btw

The hand is a motif in CQ that specifically relates to agency. Carter makes Yooba by piercing his own hand, a piece of his own agency is given away to create him. He rejects enslaving this piece of himself, that choice setting in motion the entire real plot of the game.

Carter as an abused gay guy whose unique experiences prime him to be recognized by a god-like figure beyond anyone's comprehension is not a direction I think anyone could have seen coming, but the root of it is implied all the way back in one of the first cutscenes I ever made.
Drawing more knights for fun instead of finding more work with music (but will someone hire me for their game please?)

FLASHING LIGHTS AT THE INTRO WARNING!
(idk how intense they need to be to warrant a warning but its not fullscreen, still...)
Another Song + Visuals thing!
These sketchy knights are a little under the bar for what i consider an acceptable sprite but i wanted it done fast...

We are so far disconnected from pulpy comics that people genuinely can't sus out that vibe intuitively... would ya look at that...
90s guy found and thawed out by modern science:
Nah.
80% of your time on PC before playing a game is playing with settings and installing drivers. Then once you get the game to finally launch, it crashes and you have to investigate what happened.
Console gaming is superior in this aspect alone. The game is optimized to run on that specific hardware right out of the box. No tinkering necessary. Of course there are off situations where games are released in a poor state on console. But usually, they're fixed in a day one patch 🤷🏾♂️
