For as bad as you think things may be within the Yankees internally in terms of complacency and a lack of accountability, they’re worse.

Waiting for the Yankees’ job after next year?
Can confirm Rocco Baldelli has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Mariners’ managerial opening, as @Ken_Rosenthal first said.

The Yankees are appearing in the World Series. It just happens to be as a montage of embarrassment against the Rays.
Aaron Boone is asked if the season should only be considered a success if the team wins the World Series.
“Sure,” he sarcastically responds.
“Sorry you have to deal with me for another year, Jon,” Aaron Boone says to Jon Heyman, who has said Boone should be fired.
Joel Sherman asks Aaron Boone why the team with him as manager only beats lesser or AL Central teams in the postseason.
Boone’s response?
“I don’t have that answer for you.”
If Brian Cashman built a 26-man roster from a fan sweepstakes, Hal Steinbrenner would blame the players for failing to win a championship.
Aaron Boone keeps bringing up reaching the 2024 World Series as a good thing.
It’s sad that he’s done so much losing that being humiliated in five games is his crowning achievement.
Aaron Boone: “In 2024, when we went to the World Series we were a little bit more one-dimensional, but we were really good at that one dimension.”
That dimension would be unable to play fundamental baseball.
“There’s one happy team at the end of the year,” says Aaron Boone, who has never been on that happy team, as a player or manager.
Brian Cashman came out of a press conference specifically about his roster’s latest failure looking not so bad because of Hal Steinbrenner’s answers.
For as bad as you think things are internally with being comfortable with losing and no changes ever being made, they’re worse.
If you ever wonder why Hal avoids media for extended periods, today served as reminder
Summary
- Judge has A LOT of say on decisions
- Cashman/Boone doing great job
- 93 wins/reaching ALDS “not a failure”
- Asking member of owner’s labor committee about labor is “inappropriate”
Hal is asked by @BobKlap: “Aren’t you sick of having to explain every year why you didn’t win a championship?”
Hal: “Winning a championship is very difficult.”
