Here we go again. When Reagan came in, the steel mills closed. By 1982, Cox's was gone. By 1985, Jaison's followed. He cut the top tax rate from 70% to 28%, and this area still hasn't recovered.
I call that a wealth reset.
But two things always stood here. Now they’re gone too.
Minerva Bakery opened in 1923. It was here for my mother, and for most of my grandmother's life. It closed this week after 103 years. The owner ran into health issues and couldn't keep the doors open. She couldn't get the staff to cover the shop while she recovered, and she couldn't afford it with everything going up.
Earlier this year, Schwebel's bakery closed after 120 years. They announced it, and two days later they were gone.
Both of these bakeries made it through Covid. They made it through wars. Hell, they made it through Reagan. They couldn't make it through a second Trump term.
Same title, 42 years apart: Mandate for Leadership, 1981 and Project 2025. Same think tank wrote the playbook both times. Back then, we didn't know what was coming. This time we have a midterm election, and we know what's happening around us.
We can stop it in November.

Ryan Garton told AP he saw immigration enforcement agents pinning down a man on the side of the road in a Chicago suburb as he was driving home. He pulled over to document what was happening on video. One agent had his knee on the man’s back and was “beating up on him,” Garton said. An agent told local police that they mistook the man for a fugitive and released him after realizing he is a U.S. citizen, according to a police statement.

Although Tompkins County DA Van Houten is now telling the media that he did not pursue charges because it was "consensual," here is a copy of the on campus CRIME ALERT that went out at that time, citing a "victim reported being sexually assaulted by several males and coerced into consuming ketamine and other drugs." The Israelis cannot be any more clear what their goal is. They say it over and over without euphemism. But a mass psychosis has taken hold in most Western govts & media that refuse to engage with the monstrous reality of what this country is instead of the fantasy in their heads.

Let me get this straight.
A farmer spots hooded, masked men and three vans outside a US bomber base in the middle of the night.
Armed police. Major incident. 85 homes evacuated. A bomb-disposal robot. Two apparent controlled explosions. An 8km no-fly zone. A US Embassy security alert.
The President of the United States says they'd been watched for "a long time" and were out to do "big damage."
A day and a half later, all five are home on bail.
And the government's line is that the farmer who called it in only had a "partial picture."

Two months after his mom was detained by ICE, Samuel Gonzalez Terrones, 21, died by suicide.
“To the ICE agent who took away my mother: I hope it was worth it,” Samuel wrote. “I can’t handle anymore injustices in this world.”
