Connect WAN port from NAK to LAN port on router. Connect to wifi network NETAIDKIT and browse to http://192.168.101.1/

firmware upgrade also updates OpenVPN client, but we haven't seen issues with breaking existing VPN connections.

Typically it sits between the router/gateway and your devices (see netaidkit.net/manual/). What do you mean by outer layer?
