It’s cleaning the rails following #StormBeolo. We’ve seen a huge amount of leaves blown from trees in the past 36 hours as you can imagine!

⚠️Sunday 25 Oct @ 08:45. #StormBoelo continues to sweep across Scotland, and countrywide speed restrictions and line closures remain in place until the winds ease. This means extended journey times. Other areas of our railway have also been damaged/flooded. 1/3

Sun 25 Oct @ 09:30. We’ve just caught up with our weather specialist, based in our control room.
Storm Boelo’s intensity and winds are in line with the forecast and @MetOffice warning. 60-70mph gusts were recorded widely, with 70-80mph in exposed parts of the west coast.

ALT Storm Boelo statement from Chris Wright, Network Rail North West route director. He says: "We’re sorry for the disruption to people’s journeys today caused by Storm Boelo. Safety is our number one priority and we’re working as fast as we can to assess the overnight damage, clear debris and reopen routes as best as possible. However, with the extreme weather continuing today I’d urge everyone to check National Rail Enquiries and follow the advice of their train operator with weather conditions changing so quickly.”

⚠️ We're working hard to keep rail services moving during #StormBoelo this weekend.
🌬️ If you live near the railway, firmly secure objects like trampolines, sheds and garden furniture.
These can block lines and disrupt trains.

⚠️Storm Boelo: Important travel advice 24-25 October.
The Met Office has issued weather warnings for high winds across Scotland & northern England this weekend. There's a risk of rail disruption, so please plan ahead and allow extra time.
Sat 24 October: Check before you travel on all Avanti West Coast routes.
Sun 25 October: We strongly recommend you avoid travel north of Preston if possible. We're running a reduced timetable due to Network Rail speed restrictions, with fewer trains and longer journey times.
🎟️ Avanti West Coast tickets for journeys north of Preston on Sunday 25 October can be used at no extra cost on 24, 26 or 27 October.
