How has BRICS circumvented the US dollar without creating a common currency of their own?
Why is China buying extraordinary amounts of gold and silver?

Russia’s🇷🇺 State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin: BRICS is a key pillar of the emerging multipolar world order
‘We represent countries with different political systems, economic models and traditions. But we are united in building a multipolar world, in respecting different approaches and national legislation, and in recognising every state’s right to a sovereign path of development.
Over its 20 years of existence, BRICS has become one of the key pillars of the emerging multipolar world and a just world order, as well as one of the largest economic centres, expressing the interests of the world majority.’
First Indian🇮🇳 PM Jawaharlal Nehru on Kashmir’s accession to India:
'The accession took place when Pakistan invaded India, or rather, Pakistan helped people, the tribal people, to invade India. And the people of Kashmir resisted this invasion. That is, not only the Maharaja was there, but the others, the National Conference, which is quite apart from our National Congress, resisted it.
The Muslims themselves resisted it, and then they asked to be invited to India, and both the Maharaja and the National Conference were there. And we agreed. It was before that, it was doubtful which way they would turn.
They agreed, and then we had to send some troops there to defend them from these tribal raiders. And for about a year, 14 months or so, this thing went on. Then there was a ceasefire.'
🇮🇳 26 OCTOBER 1947 | JAMMU AND KASHMIR ACCEDES TO INDIA
On 26 October 1947, Maharaja Hari Singh, the ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, signed the Instrument of Accession to the Dominion of India, marking a pivotal moment in the history of the subcontinent.
The decision came amid a grave military crisis. Armed tribal raiders backed by Pakistan had entered the princely state and were advancing towards Srinagar. Facing the threat, the Maharaja sought military assistance from India and signed the accession document.
On 27 October, Governor-General Lord Mountbatten accepted the Instrument of Accession, and Indian troops were airlifted to Srinagar to defend the state against the advancing raiders.
📜 What did the Instrument establish?
It transferred authority to India over defence, external affairs and communications, along with related matters specified in the document.
The accession became a defining moment in Jammu and Kashmir’s history, shaping its constitutional relationship with India and the subsequent conflict between India and Pakistan.
🇮🇳 26 October 1947 remains a landmark date, marking Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to India amid a critical struggle to defend the state.

Andy Schectman: Don’t watch the gold PRICE. Watch who’s BUYING THE GOLD: CHINA🇨🇳
‘When you focus on gold prices, to me, it’s focusing on the wrong thing. That’s what they want you to focus on. When you talk about war and inflation through energy shock, that should be very good for gold. In fact, they want us to believe that it’s not.
Take a look at the amount of gold that has been delivered under the COMEX market, where in my 36-year career, less than 1% of contracts ever stood for delivery. It is an exchange that has traditionally been built to offset risk. A company like mine, who may have 2 million ounces of silver in our warehouse, we will sell 2 million on COMEX so that we’re market neutral to the fluctuations in the price. No one’s standing for delivery.
As the price has gone down, we have seen over 19 million ounces of gold stand for delivery this year on COMEX, for 24 straight months since President Trump won the election. Every month, billions and billions and billions. $81 billion so far. Who’s doing that? Almost $18 billion in silver has stood for delivery this year.
Look at the amount of gold that the central banks are buying. Look at the amount of gold that China is buying, and silver. They’re price insensitive.’

Andy Schectman: The WEAPONISATION of US🇺🇸 Treasuries is pushing the world into GOLD
‘The dollar isn’t really in danger of disappearing any time soon. It’s used too much in global trade, but to save and hold your wealth in dollars is like holding a melting ice cube. Treasuries are the real issue.
Not only were they weaponised, but you can see the fiscal irresponsibility of this administration. We took in over $5 trillion in tax revenue, spent over $7 trillion. Doesn’t work.
When you look at fiscal irresponsibility coupled with questionable foreign policy and, in fact, weaponisation of the Treasury, many of these nations are seeing the wisdom in holding assets like gold that have no counterparty risk if held in their own possession.
This is why India brought back most of their gold from the Bank of England, which gave great strategic liquidity by keeping it at the Bank of England, which would give direct access to the London Metal Exchange, and they brought it home in favour of lack of counterparty risk.'

Andy Schectman: One BROKE NATION Britain🇬🇧 is buying the debt of another broke nation, the US🇺🇸. That is SILLY
‘Look at Britain and the United States. You’re talking the two drunkest guys at the bar leaning on each other at the end of the night so they don’t fall over. Why would one broke nation buy the debt of another broke nation? The whole thing is silly, and that’s why the countries that are de-treasurising in favour of gold see it much more clearly. What it is, is desperate acts at the end of a system, at the end of a monetary system that is gasping for air.
Anyone that would be holding long-duration Treasuries is as dumb as a mud wall because inflation is going to eat away at that. Trump just said we’re going to use inflation to eat away at the debt.
And yes, rates should go much, much higher. Problem is, we’re so far indebted that if they allow rates to go much higher, the whole system implodes. They’re caught between a rock and a hard place.’

Andy Schectman: The military-industrial complex has HELD DOWN SILVER prices to build WEAPONS
‘The military-industrial complex, if I had to guess, would be the ones that have held down silver forever. There’s massive amounts of silver in high-tech weaponry, like the Tomahawk cruise missile, like F-35s, like stealth bombers, and it’s not just in the United States; it’s sold all throughout the Western edifice through NATO. They need tremendous amounts of silver.
It’s not even about the price getting away from them that they’re concerned about. It’s that rising price creates too much demand. People will run to the assets that are taking off in price. And so they suppress the price in order to build high-tech weaponry.
JP Morgan, who paid a $920 million fine to the Justice Department, the largest they ever handed out for manipulating the metals market, somehow is the custodian of the world’s largest silver trust, SLV. There is no question in my mind but that it is the Western military-industrial complex that has tried forever to hold it down.'

Andy Schectman: BRICS chose OIL for their first gold-backed trade, and that choice was DELIBERATE
‘The Unit is a pilot trial confirmed by the central banks of the UAE and Russia, and the New Development Bank in Shanghai. They used the Unit to settle a trade, the first one recently between the UAE and India, with oil, without using the dollar.
It’s a political signal pushing back against the US monetary policy. The BRICS, they rotate presidency. Everything is cooperative. There is no forcing, no coercion, and so you don’t need a common currency, but what you need to do is take care of and respect your monetary ecosystem, or no one will want to trade with you.
Build your own monetary ecosystem instead of that of the United States, use settlement instead of US Treasuries, use it in gold. That is what the plan ultimately is, and they’re building the infrastructure little by little. It’s not an all-at-once thing, but once it becomes fully mature, it will be very, very difficult to challenge.’

Andy Schectman: The Global South wants MORE CONTROL over its own resources after the US🇺🇸 froze Russia’s🇷🇺 reserves
‘What the United States and its Western allies did by taking $400 billion in Russian forex reserves and Treasuries, and they see great hypocrisy. The world says, “That could be us.” Maybe that’s why you see straddling of the fence by India, by Saudi Arabia, by the United Arab Emirates. These Countries in the Global South are gradually building optionality.
They’re creating systems where they have more control over their own resources, their own data, their own supply chains, their own strategic industries. If you see roads that continually get blocked, like they did for Russia, you don’t have to come out and say, “We’re just going to abandon this road and build our own,” but you can build parallel routes.
This is something that was catalysed by the weaponisation of the Treasury market, and many countries out there, including those that have always been traditionally Western allies, saying, that could happen to us. We better find another team to work with.'

Andy Schectman: Global trade will rely MUCH LESS on dollar hegemony
‘Many countries around the world are asking the very simple question: why should we have to rely on foreign banks and the dollar-based system just to move our money?
The thrust of the last BRICS meeting was interoperability. All of these countries develop their own ecosystem, trade their own local currencies over a system of rails that really does not coordinate with the SWIFT system, and settle imbalances in gold through a series of multi-jurisdictional vaults, including ones in Mumbai, Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Saint Petersburg, Moscow, you name it.
All of these vaults that are being built, and actually actively being built, throughout the Belt and Road Initiative will be, in essence, the arteries, the veins of all these payment systems. That will allow for interoperability to trade with one another in local currencies, relying much, much less upon the dollar and the dollar hegemony to move money and to transact trade.’

Andy Schectman: The West is pushing gold prices DOWN, and China🇨🇳 is RUSHING TO BUY
‘What they do is they lever the price down on the Western system that trades at 30, 40 times leverage, and then stand for delivery at subsidised prices. This is exactly what they’re doing. They’re standing for copious amounts of delivery, which are so far outside of what is normal. It’s four feet of snow in the hottest place on earth in July. It doesn’t happen, and yet it’s happening.
Look at China. In the first and second quarter, after the price got destroyed in silver, they imported more silver than in the history of the country. These countries that are smart enough to see what’s happening are using the Western price and the suppression of it to stand for physical delivery.
When you look at the new vaulting system and settlement system in Hong Kong that will go live in the first quarter next year with same-day settlement, yuan-priced contracts, the ability for the West to continue to suppress the price in dollars is coming to a rapid end. It’s almost like all of these countries are rushing to accumulate using the distortion in the price.’

Andy Schectman: 'BRICS DOESN’T need a common currency, it just needs its payment systems to talk to each other'
‘BRICS don’t need a common currency. I don’t think they will do that for quite some time, if ever. The story is the plumbing: connect the payment system, settle trade in local currencies, build alternative messaging and clearing networks. The dollar doesn’t have to disappear, just has to become less necessary, and it’s a mistake to get hung up on the BRICS currency or even BRICS Pay.
The infrastructure is linking payments and exploring connections that are allowing instant settlement on alternative payment networks. They don’t need one currency; they just need the systems to talk to each other, and that’s why the thrust of the last meeting was interoperability. Build the rails, connect the rails, then you have an alternative financial architecture.’

Andy Schectman: There’s NO REASON TO ANTAGONISE THE WEST while BRICS builds its own infrastructure
'You can see by their participation in all of the meetings and how seriously they take this new union of countries that are finding safety in numbers, building an infrastructure slowly, doing it the right way. They’d be silly not to.
You know the old saying, “Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.” There’s no reason to antagonise. If you have the ability to build your infrastructure, at the same time build your economy by being able to use SWIFT, it would be a smart move. It doesn’t mean they’ve pledged their allegiance or that they have derailed the progress. It simply means they’re being strategic.’

Indian🇮🇳 MP and author Shashi Tharoor on British-engineered famines in India:
“The single most unforgivable aspect of British colonial rule in India was the fact that 35 million Indians died totally unnecessary deaths in British-engineered famines. The irony is that, in the past, when droughts occurred, society came together to save people.
The British, unfortunately, came with three very different principles, which they believed passionately.
The first was a complete objection to what they considered indiscriminate charity, which, in their view, encouraged idleness.
The second was the Adam Smithian belief in the free market.
So, if a place is suffering from drought, and the East India Company is coming and buying up all the grain to feed the breadbaskets of England, thereby driving up prices above any level that the local population.'
The British Colonial Holocaust: Bengal’s Famine of 1770
In 1770, Bengal suffered a devastating famine that killed an estimated 10 million people, according to some historical accounts—roughly one-third of the region’s population. Millions endured starvation and disease while the British East India Company continued to prioritise revenue collection.
Millions died of starvation and disease as villages emptied, livelihoods collapsed and families struggled to survive. Yet the East India Company continued to prioritise revenue collection over the suffering of the people it ruled.
The roots of the catastrophe lay in a system of colonial extraction. In 1765, the Company acquired the right to collect revenue in Bengal, Bihar and Orissa. It used this power to finance its administration and military expansion. When crop failures struck in 1769, the crisis deepened. Farmers who had lost their harvests continued to face heavy revenue demands, leaving many with little means to buy food or survive the shortages.
Bengal’s dead were not merely numbers. They were parents, children, farmers and entire communities whose lives were shattered under a colonial system that placed revenue above human welfare. Their suffering remains a damning indictment of East India Company rule and its devastating consequences for the people of India.

Russian🇷🇺 President Vladimir Putin: Europe’s Talk of a Russian Threat Is ‘Political Schizophrenia’
'They are constantly talking about the threat from Russia and preparing for war with Russia, which, in my view, is a kind of political schizophrenia.
But I hope this, too, will eventually pass.'
Vladimir Putin’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev: Europe Uses Russia as a ‘Bogeyman’ to Hide Its Problems
‘Europe really needs help. We see migration, energy rejection, and Europe using Russia as a bogeyman, a scarecrow, to distract from much more fundamental problems.
The problem with this approach is not so much for Russia as for European politicians who believe their own lies and distortions of reality.
When European politicians believe they are doing everything right and that Russia is responsible for every problem, they do not even want to correct their own mistakes, despite high energy costs and high levels of migration.’
