Now Trump wants Mary Peltola prosecuted, and Alaska’s Republican governor bent right on over for the felon, law be damned.

Alaska took steps to distinguish the two Dan Sullivans. The Alaska Supreme Court ruled the second candidate could remain on the ballot.
Now, with Mary Peltola leading in a race that could determine control of the Senate, Trump is demanding her prosecution, and Alaska’s Republican governor has ordered an investigation.
For what crime? What law did her campaign allegedly break? Using MAGA’s playbook against them?
You don’t get to turn a legal campaign tactic into a criminal offense because the president doesn’t like that he didn’t do it first. An investigation can damage a candidate even if no charges are ever filed. The headlines, the suspicion, the political fallout, all days before voters finish voting.
When Trump demands prosecution of his opponent and a governor responds with an investigation, it’s the purpose and timing that deserve the scrutiny.
This is election interference. Plain and simple.
Voters should decide this election, not political investigations ordered in response to demented president’s demands.

Bardstown cop's wife is still behind bars.
She has NOT bonded out.
Lauren Winans, 31, is charged with 2 counts of 1st degree sodomy, 1st degree incest, and 1st degree sexual abause.
The alleged victim is a family member under the age of 12.
Her arraignment is scheduled for Nov 5.
Her husband, Andy Winans, is a Bardstown police officer, and former Nelson County deputy.
But there's more. Of course.
Updated photos circulating online show the couple posing on a Nelson County Sheriff's vehicle with blue lights on.
The sheriff's office called the conduct "completely inappropriate" and says Andy Winans was disciplined at the time.
He resigned from the Nelson County Sheriff's department in early 2026 and Bardstown PD hasn't commented.

Bardstown, KY is a beautiful little town.
This story does not match that vibe at all.
A police officer's wife is charged with SA and sodomy of a family member under 12.
And she's already bonded out of jail.
Lauren Winans, 31, of Bardstown was indicted Wednesday by a Nelson County grand jury and arrested Thursday.
She is charged with:
- 1st degree sodomy
- 1st degree incest
- 2 counts of 1st degree SA.
The indictment says the victim was a family member under 12 years old.
The alleged abuse happened between Jan. and Nov. 2022.
The sodomy and incest charges each carry 20 to 50 years or life in prison.
Kentucky State Police investigated the case.
Her husband, Andrew Winans, is a Bardstown police officer and a former Nelson County deputy, and he is not accused of anything.
Her bond was $250,000 cash only.
She was already back out of jail by Friday morning.
The judge ordered her to have no contact with the child.
She is due in Nelson Circuit Court for arraignment on Nov. 5.
A child under 12.
Someone in that family let the system know, and now it's on the courts to make sure she never gets near a child again.

This Forbes investigation is a must-read.
Donald Trump pulled in roughly $1.4 billion from crypto in 2025, plus more than $200 million from real estate, and faced a projected tax bill north of $500 million. So his company donated the "development rights" to his Jupiter, Florida golf course to a land trust, argued the course was a natural habitat worth protecting, and kept right on running the club. Forbes estimates the write-off could land around $825 million.
He has done this at least five times since 2005. New York's attorney general alleged two of those appraisals were inflated. In Doral, he claimed a deduction of up to $323 million, more than double what he paid for the entire resort.
A month after the Jupiter deal, he sued the IRS. The settlement his own Justice Department signed bars claims against him over matters that "could be pending," language that appears broad enough to cover this year's taxes. A federal judge found the case was brought to manipulate the judicial process. And the man now running the IRS, who took the job as this deal was being assembled, has a home backing onto those same Jupiter fairways.
