On the eve of my 37th birthday, it's time to announce my retirement from football at the end of the season! I want to thank my family, team-mates, managers, fans & all the clubs I have played for. To say it's been a privilege is an understatement. It's been a dream❤️ #ThisGame

She stole the song from Africa, rebranded it, profited from it, and refused to acknowledge the original artist.

We fully support UEFA’s position. It is time for a full and robust review of FIFA’s leadership and governance to ensure that the global game is run transparently, for the benefit of all 211 member nations and with the long term stewardship of football at its heart.

Totally biased but @LauraMcAllister has been absolutely brilliant doing the news rounds today & she is obviously hugely important behind the scenes at UEFA too. We in Wales are lucky to have someone so influential and value driven representing us at the top of world football.
'Do you have confidence in Gianni Infantino to be the person running world football?' - @RobHarris 'I hope this is a moment of awakening for the FIFA president and for FIFA, and that they take those roles far more seriously' - UEFA Vice President Professor Laura McAllister

“We were presented with a catastrophic, damaging plan which would threaten the future of football.” Laura McAllister, UEFA Vice-President, discusses her organisation's potential World Cup boycott and says FIFA’s plans are “existential”. #Newsnight

Just to reiterate that I am fully supportive of the boycott because we have to protect football. My point is that this is up to FIFA now but women’s football could be the first casualty if this isn’t resolved asap.
Former Lioness Anita Asante has just spoken to me regarding the FIFA row: “It's clear from our perspective that the reasoning is only to drive financial gain. As a result, the first casualties would be women’s football tournaments.” 1/2

genuinely depressing the slew of fellow American journalists (+ colleagues) contorting themselves into shameless knots to insist that overt corruption is an act of profound patriotism bc it benefits them, if you can’t have shame at least have the dignity to not be so tone deaf

Forest Green Rovers have disbanded their women’s team for the 2026-27 season so that they can “concentrate their resources” on trying to return their men’s team to the English Football League. Their women's team only lost one league match last season. theguardian.com/football/202…
