Many months ago, I wanted to find a way to customize the NC high school sports experience & make it easier to understand their history.
Today, I'm launching Varsity NC to help accomplish that.

How is the Greater Neuse River Conf going to impact the football playoffs?
It's possible the @ClaytonCometsFB vs. @cvhsftbl game will determine the No. 1 seed in the 7A East. It's possible @TheGMHSFootball could get it too.
Here's the breakdown.

Why now? Your decision or collaborative? Why elevate the RB coach when you have Joker Phillips and Kurt Roper on staff? I worry about some of yall sometimes. This shit is part of their job.

It's a Wake County rivalry in the 8A volleyball regional final!
@GHHSSports travels to @G_L_ATHLETICS on Tuesday, with a trip to the state championship on the line.
Together, the two programs have won 6 @NCHSAA state titles since 2016.

I’m just not excited about this at all tbh. Hopefully this is just a trade piece sometime this season.
Meh.
Welcome back, Niki 👊
We've signed defenseman Alexander Nikishin to a one-year contract.

I get the allure of Philip Rivers for NC State fans. It’s like their version of Rod Brind’Amour… if it works.
Hiring someone who has never coached beyond HS, who has never operated in the new CFB world is a risk.
Doesn’t mean it won’t work… but… I’d look at all my options first.
I really don’t care to see Alexander Nikishin in a Canes jersey again tbh.
The number of college sports fans who think high school coaches tell their players where they're going to go play college football has always baffled me.
Something I’d add to this: back when I was running HSOT and we held our football jamboree at @football_cghsnc before they had the second turf field… I reached out to NC State’s staff about having teams warm up at their practice facility before their scrimmage at Gibbons, since they’re right across the street. They allowed that to happen several years for almost nothing in return. Doeren hired Henry Trevathan as his director of high school relations, and that was a smart move on his part.
This is a common feeling among HS coaches in NC. Many of them have a lot of good things to say about Doeren/his staff, how they approached high schools in NC, and how open they were with HS coaches. I'd say Doeren also did a good job of identifying NC talent and developing it.
