#NHS #imaging #data is growing exponentially say @JamesTnorman and Mark Dobbs at @PureStorage. With that comes challenges around cost, access, performance, #security and #sustainability. We caught up at #UKIO2024 in partnership with @_AXREM @sally_edgington @MarkVenables10

Lots of hot and in the most part unhappy responses to last nights “NHS to buy social care beds” story - I think in part driven by unhelpful simplistic headlines and overly simplistic take on the example. Quick thread here

Singapore General Hospital has a programme called Get Rid Of Stupid Stuff. I want to hear from NHS staff about the stupid stuff that wastes your time, patients’ time, and taxpayers’ pounds. Let me know how you think we can deliver a better NHS here 👇 labour.org.uk/improve-our-NH…

I urge doctors to read the details here and respond. My own view is that: - the NHS shouldn’t be a political football in culture wars - To make a pledge that patients can demand to know the birth gender of staff is wrong 1/2 consultations.dhsc.gov.uk/en…

Learning & change are deeply connected. Successful change requires continuous learning within an organisation or system, yet we often don't think enough about the fundamental nature of learning within our change processes. So here are seven "guiding principles for accelerated learning" from @CenterForAL: 1) Learning involves the whole body & mind: it's not not all “head” learning (conscious, rational) but involves emotions, senses & receptors. 2) Learning is creation, not consumption: It's something a learner creates, not something a learner absorbs. 3) Collaboration aids learning: a genuine learning community is always better for learning than a collection of isolated individuals. 4) Learning takes place on many levels simultaneously: the brain is not a sequential, but a parallel processor and thrives when it is challenged to do many things at once. 5) Learning comes from doing the work itself (with feedback): the real & the concrete are far better teachers than the hypothetical & the abstract. 6) Positive emotions greatly improve learning: learning that is joyful, relaxed & engaging is much better than that which is stressful, painful & dreary 7) The Image brain absorbs information instantly and automatically: learners can learn faster & recall better from visual images & summary graphics than from written or verbal information. alcenter.com/guiding-princip…. Thank you @AllysonApsey & @gcouros for introducing me to these principles.

Hearing that the national team are going to push ahead with using NRL to connect imaging is totally wrong. We need a national HIE and we need to use international standards and work with suppliers to do the right thing. A community led approach is needed.

Finally had my op...6 hours in theatre and feeling well rough now. hopefully it will be a success. Staff at @addenbrookes have been amazing.

The Minister hit the nail on the head when he asked @jon_mcadam, @TRIResearch and I about the importance of sharing and linking data across the public sector. Absolutely essential that we do this, do it ethically, building trust to support most vulnerable and save them from harm.
The sun is shining in Brighton and day 2 is off to a great start! 😎 @CPhilpOfficial Minister for Crime, Policing and Fire, Rt Hon Chris Philp MP on how policing and technology are working together to keep the public safe. 📹👇
