This is always a hilarious gambit. Circular definitions lack semantic content. If the only thing that real women and "trans women" have in common is liking a particular set of phonemes... then it is difficult to imagine a more complete victory for the TERFs and phobies.

The fact that none of the relevant concepts have ever been coherently defined renders this a pointless exercise in principle. But that is absurd - they recruit (or acquire) subjects on the basis of some combination of behaviours: Expressing distress at their own sex Calling themselves "trans" Crossdressing/taking cross sex hormones/etc So, perhaps you might find neurological correlations with any or all of these behaviours, but none of those are equivalent to "gender identity". Which is the rub: both "trans" and "gender identity" are theory laden constructs (or at least, attempted to be deployed as such), they cannot be empirically supported directly. Instead, on the basis of their predictive power, plausibility, parsimony, etc they are (or are not) the preferred lens through which to interpret the empirical phenomena. Without first defining what "trans" and "gender identity" entails as a hypothesis, then there is no way to assess the virtues of such a hypothesis. This is particularly obvious with regard to the confounds of homosexuality, homosexual men have fairly robust (compared to the rest of the data) on average brain structure shifts toward female typical structures. But what is therefore being detected is homosexuality not some shared "gender identity" which underpins these behaviours.
