I joined FM @andrii_sybiha, @kajakallas & FM @jnbarrot & several FM colleagues ahead of the #UNSC meeting on 🇺🇦 today.
We called on #Russia to stop its aggression, accept a ceasefire, and engage meaningfully in negotiations.
Ukraine agreed to a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire in March 2025. 51 UN member states call on Russia to finally do the same.
They have issued a joint statement in support of Ukraine.
"We stand in solidarity with Ukraine as it continues to face Russia’s war of aggression," the statement says.
The partner countries called for protecting freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, commercial shipping and critical infrastructure, and safeguarding Ukrainian grain exports and global food security. They also called on Russia to immediately return all arbitrarily detained, forcibly transferred or deported Ukrainian civilians, including children, as well as all prisoners of war and internees.
"Ukraine wants peace. We want peace. Russia must stop its aggression, accept a ceasefire, and engage meaningfully in negotiations towards a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in accordance with international law," they stressed.

It is was an honour meeting President Aoun in Beirut. I expressed Norway’s solidarity with Lebanon and reiterated our long-standing commitment.
We support Lebanon's call for a full ceasefire. The Israeli attacks on 🇱🇧civilians & infrastructure are unacceptable and must cease.

I addressed the participants of the NB8 Summit, which is taking place in Kyiv today. The Nordic countries and Baltic states are among those who have stood with us most firmly and consistently – defending freedom, our nations, and our Europe.
All of you know very well what is happening now in Ukraine and what Russia is preparing for this autumn and winter. Ballistic missiles remain the key threat. We are doing everything possible to deal with it.
I am grateful to all of you who are working with us through the FREYJA program. And we need progress on FREYJA every week – we need our joint anti-ballistic defense to become effective as soon as possible. I also want to thank those of you who are helping us with missiles for air defense. This is our first priority under constant Russian attacks. Every missile means lives saved. Please continue this work – through the PURL program and also on a bilateral basis. There are new support packages for Ukraine today, and I thank you for them.

We are deeply disturbed that Kyiv Pechersk Lavra – a UNESCO World Heritage site and a symbol of Ukraine’s history and identity – has been damaged in last night’s attacks. Cultural heritage belongs to all humanity and must be protected. Norway stands with Ukraine.
By striking the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, one of the greatest holy sites of Christianity, Putin has forever put his name on the list of history’s worst barbarians.
He should be damned for centuries. And he will lose this war.
From the Horde in the 13th century to the Nazis and Bolsheviks in the 20th century, Kyiv’s sacred monasteries have suffered numerous barbarically attacks.
Now we are dealing with Russian terrorists who have already outmatched ISIS in their crimes against cultural heritage. Only Russian scum who have nothing sacred can deliberately damage the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a unique UNESCO heritage site under special protection.
We will be urgently initiating all relevant procedures within UNESCO and all other international mechanisms, demanding immediate and adequate responses to this state barbarism.
We expect strong reactions by international institutions and capitals. No vague words, silence, or weak steps. We need action now to stop Russian barbarism.
