ā€œThe Glastonbury of educationā€ - this is how Valerie Hannon described this year’s @WholeEducation conference, and it certainly felt like it! 🤩

@AvantiWestCoast I’m hoping the ā€˜unsuccessful’ claim for disruption on my journey yesterday from London to Crewe is from some awful bot response - otherwise I seriously question your commitment to your customers…

Suggesting that in the chaos of Euston, when the train I had booked was not even shown as ā€˜delayed’ never mind ā€˜cancelled’, I should have taken a different train available 3 minutes after the one I was waiting for and then I ā€œwould not have experienced a delayā€ is ridiculous

Good morning Sunday people! It’s time for another #Edujobs bulletin (late cos I’m still battling jet lag šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø) If you’re looking for a new move in education but not in the classroom, this hour is my gift to you. Coaching also available to help you apply and ace the interview.

This is a beautiful thread @Emma_Turner75 - happy birthday 🄰🤩
🧵These things I know… This weekend sees me celebrate a big milestone birthday and also reflect on almost 28 years of teaching and leadership. After working across 4 decades with our youngest learners in formal education, these things I know.

Trust leadership: "Values-based leaders must always engage in a 'constant dance', accepting that their trust will never be perfect – not least because the world is continually changing around them – but can always learn to improve." @TobyGreany @Nor_edu for @WholeEducation 1/2

If DOGE really wanted to rein in government waste, it would close tax loopholes and end subsidies that benefit the ultra-wealthy and large corporations. Instead, DOGE wants to gut government agencies that protect you.

This gets to the nub of the problem facing DWP: Secretary of State & Ministers are genuinely committed to reducing the cost of disability benefits by properly supporting disabled people to get health care & good jobs. Not by just slashing benefits. 1/3 thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…

Of everything about Ofsted, this is my biggest concern. If there’s a new massive framework AND a new curriculum, at the same time, those near retirement may well think ā€œYou know what, I’m doneā€ and go.

Every single theme needs to be led by an SLT member, metrics collated, plans coordinated, risk reduced. The workload spend is absolutely massive. I'm SLT and it's made me look at my pension forecast...

My hot take on the Ofsted stuff is that, if you had a well-funded system with lots of extra people, it would help drive school improvement (and *could* reduce stress). As the system currently stands: I’m concerned it’ll drown people in workload.
