The war to cleanse the synagogue is going to last at least two years! How can corrupt and hypocritical masqueraders turn politics into a bastion for blackmail, slander and hate-mongering? The merchants of hate will decide when this will end.

At this point, as someone that has sentimental attachment to Dr. Besigye, this time around not as a political person, I no longer care whether he is granted bail or through mediation by Gen. Saleh he's out of prison. The only thing I care about is seeing Dr. Besigye get the medical attention he needs. Every day that passes without him getting it, his health will automatically deteriorate.
Most people here especially those on the opposition side of the government are using the health of Dr. Besigye to hold the government captive. One thing for sure is Dr. Besigye is important to our politics while alive than dead.
When he dies in prison, the governments people including the president will make long speeches about him and as a great man and how politics led to his death and the opposition will make long speeches as well how the government killed him and nothing will happen there after. No one will be held accountable.
At this point what's more important is accepting that the government is powerful in its own time and capable of writing the narrative.
Let's all be cowards, allow KB to get out of prison and receive medical attention rather than using his health as a way to keep ourselves relevant to politics.
Whoever is doing the mediation, do it as quick as possible. After all they're doing to push their agenda and show how caring and important they are. Just do it.
So to you the President doesn’t care what happens to Dr. Besigye?
Someone sent me this throwback courtesy of @NBSBreakingNews
I really don’t mind you taking pot shots at me. I understand why you do it. You live in a world of angels and demons. You are the angels and the rest of us are the demons. But let me say this: You’re entitled to your opinions but you’re not entitled to your facts. Sometimes it is better to ask questions rather than assert falsehoods. There are three issues: the trial, the health of the accused persons and the intention of the government to continue engaging in broader dialogue and reconciliation. The trial and health of the accused persons are related because the trial cannot continue if the accused person cannot stand trial due to ill health. The doctors have given their report and advice to the court and on that basis the trial was halted.
All accused persons are entitled to a fair trial and there can be no fair trial if an accused person is too ill to stand trial. Even if the trial went ahead and a conviction secured, the fact that the accused was too ill to stand trial would be a ground of appeal. The accused would argue that his right to a fair trial was violated. There are many precedents to that effect.
Concerning this powerless Minister of Justice I can only share the obvious: The Minister of Justice doesn’t tell the courts what to do. At most he can advise the Prosecution not to oppose bail for an accused person for well stated reasons. The final decision would still lie with the DPP.
Finally let’s acknowledge with gratitude the efforts by the doctors whose timely intervention on the instructions of the President has enabled Dr Besigye to get the best possible medical attention Uganda can offer. The doctors have however advised that to speed up his recovery he needs more specialized treatment which we cannot provide in Uganda.
On the deteriorating health of Dr. @kizzabesigye1 , the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, @norbertmao , recently stated:
"I will tell you, he needs specialized medical treatment which can't be offered in Uganda. To get out of the country, he needs bail. These are things that can be discussed... Someone who is battling such a case must be healthy to instruct their lawyers, yet he cannot speak."
The irony is absurd!
Mao openly admits that Besigye is critically ill, incapacitated, and unable to speak or instruct his lawyers. Yet instead of ensuring that the judiciary he superintends grants immediate medical bail, the Minister of Justice is effectively advising that the judicial process be abandoned. 😳
How powerless is the Minister for Justice if he cannot guide the courts to respect basic constitutional rights? By declaring that bail must be "discussed" and "negotiated" through General Salim Saleh rather than granted by a judge, Mao is making a profound confession: in Uganda, justice is not a constitutional right determined by law, but a political favour dispensed by the regime's military generals.
Oh Uganda!
