The war to cleanse the synagogue is going to last at least two years! How can corrupt and hypocritical masqueraders turn politics into a bastion for blackmail, slander and hate-mongering? The merchants of hate will decide when this will end.

Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu has detonated the mother of all bombs. Mandatory DNA tests to determine the paternity of unborn babies? This is like lobbing teargas into maternity wards🤣. But the Luo say “PATERNITY IS A MATTER OF FAITH. MATERNITY IS A MATTER OF FACT.” Now cometh the question of surrogate mothers, fathers and babies! In this age and era a DNA test is no silver bullet! Let the debate begin.

The signing of the #SAFERProjectUG Phase III agreement marks a renewed commitment to strengthening access to justice, advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and ensuring that women and girls affected by gender-based violence (GBV) receive the protection and support they deserve. With €3.4 million in funding, the 30-month initiative will build on the progress made in previous phases, reaching approximately 830,000 people across Karamoja, Acholi and Lango. The project will strengthen survivor-centred services, enhance the capacity of justice and protection institutions, and challenge harmful social and cultural practices, including child marriage and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The formal signing brought together government representatives, development partners, justice and law enforcement agencies, civil society organisations and other key stakeholders, demonstrating a collective commitment to creating safer communities where survivors can access essential services and justice without fear, stigma or discrimination. As Phase III gets underway, the focus will be on turning these commitments into lasting impact through stronger collaboration across the justice, health and community sectors, while building sustainable systems that protect the rights and dignity of women and girls. Through the SAFER Project, partners are advancing a shared vision of a Uganda where every woman and girl is protected from violence, empowered to claim her rights and able to access justice with dignity.

NOBERT MAO PROPOSES THREE YEAR TRANSITION TO SUSTAINABLE CHARCOAL AMID BAN DEBATE. Democratic Party (DP) president and Justice Minister Norbert Mao has proposed a three-year transition to sustainably produced charcoal, cautioning that an abrupt and immediate ban will severely penalize millions of vulnerable Ugandan households Norbert Mao's proposal comes amid intensifying national debate over government restrictions on the charcoal trade, highlighted by Speaker of Parliament Jacob Marksons Oboth’s recent directive to suspend enforcement of the ban pending a comprehensive report on alternative cooking fuels. @norbertmao @MoJCA_UG @Parliament_Ug @ObothOboth @KagutaMuseveni @GovUganda 📸COURTESY #WESTNILETVUPDATES

Is the state a liberating force or a repressive force which tramples civil society underneath? Does it liberate the energies of the citizens to innovate, to build or does it repress? That’s the fundamental question. What is seen as criticism is actually citizens expressing their high expectations of their government @norbertmao #ConferenceOnTheConstitution #KnowYourConstitution @ccgea1

Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs - Hon. Norbert Mao @norbertmao “We are here today because we want to take a systematic approach. Intellectual Property is not an end in itself; it is a tool to improve people’s lives and uplift our communities. We do not want Africa to remain a net consumer of intellectual property. We want to see Africa become stronger owners, creators, and exporters of IP.” #ARIPOAt50 #URSBCopyright #URSB #CreativeEconomy

The dinner brought together key international stakeholders and strategic players whose vision aligns closely with Operation Wealth Creation (@OWC_ug ) specifically, ensuring that every creator is empowered to generate sustainable wealth. By building key partnerships across the continent, our goal remains clear, to foster innovation, strengthen intellectual property management, and sustainably enhance the productivity of Africa’s creative sector.

UPDATE: Democratic Party (DP) president and Justice Minister, @norbertmao, has proposed responsible charcoal production as an alternative to an immediate ban, arguing that Uganda’s transition to clean energy must take into account the livelihoods of communities that depend on charcoal. Mao recommends distinguishing between charcoal production that destroys natural forests and sustainable production using trees deliberately grown for fuel. He also advocates for increased tree planting and improved charcoal-making technologies to minimise waste and maximise output. #MonitorUpdates 📹: Shabibah Nakirigya

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY: Yesterday we inspected roadworks we have initiated and supported in Gulu District, Acutomer Village. The new road which was previously a footpath is over 6 kilometers. Before that we had begun by grading a 5 kilometer stretch from Moroto Road which is part of Gulu City. We have done this in partnership with Ministry of Works and Gulu District. They provide the machines (grader, bulldozer, roller/compactor and low bed truck) and we pay the operators and buy fuel. It is costly but seeing the smiles on the faces of the residents is our biggest reward. Building community roads from scratch is something we have done since 2008. Now the community can take what they produce in their gardens to the market. In addition, when they fall sick vehicles can reach their homes and take them to hospital instead of being carried on makeshift stretchers to reach a motor-able road.
