Attacks of this kind are basically unprecedented, not "relatively rare" in Jordan. I spoke to members of my family who are Palestinian and Jordanian Christians who compared it to mass shootings in the US and said they never imagined it would ever happen in our churches.
UPDATE: At least 6 killed in Jordan church shooting: What to know:
Jordan has experienced sporadic violence targeting the Christian community, though attacks of this kind are relatively rare in the kingdom.

Advocates for people with incarcerated family say prisons often cancel visits for what they deem is excessive contact with loved ones. “There are so many other experiences like that where just a simple hug or a peck is constituted as excessive contact.”

My town in Palestine was set on fire by settlers and 🌹 Twitter wants me to be moved by Zohran planting an olive tree at his home while standing with the very people responsible for killing mine? Don’t insult me me with symbolism while my people are being buried beneath it.

Mamdani has been overwhelmingly successful at pulling his base to the right with him. This one is now posting heartfelt apologies for perfectly reasonable anti-Zionist statements after seeing him attend a vigil for October 7th.

Your definition of Zionism does not matter. Nor does mine. Zionism is defined by its material manifestations. The purpose of a system is what it does. And the Zionist system does racism and genocide. Simple. Please spare me the arrogant insufferable graaating Oxbridge debates. Your opinions are irrelevant. People are dying.

Hey, I’m just asking questions. Ignorant questions, bigoted questions, questions that have been repeatedly answered for many years. Sorry, but I’m not listening to answers right now; I’m far too busy asking questions. It’s called being intellectually curious.

was marginally hopeful about mamdani, even while remaining skeptical of any long-term viability of an independent socialist project emerging through his office, solely because he won the primary in a major city, with a massive zionist population, by largely not conceding to the relentless mobilization of antisemitism that has buried so many others. so seeing him do just that even after winning at every step of the way, is fascinating. nobody, ever, will be bigger than the program—grounding reminder for thyself

I was banned from teaching and declared persona non-grata by Cornell police. Prohibited from being on campus and was told that if I want to see a doctor, I must seek permission first. My crime? Being anti-genocide. Yet if you do this, you write a letter and you’re free to roam.

Only in a country where the left’s politics are completely consumed by celebrity culture can a government official who voted to fund the Iron Dome, Israel’s most important technology in its ability to wage genocide with impunity, moral grandstand and pretend she’s less complicit in said genocide and the crackdown on free speech than some D-list singer.
Let’s be very clear: the reason we’re even in a wave of brutal McCarthyism—where artists are canceled for saying Free Palestine and Palestinians are snatched up by ICE—to begin with is because an administration that *she* served as the sheepdog and told us to keep voting for wanted to commit genocide without Columbia students yelling at them for it.

There is a corner of the internet I had never heard of before I started reporting this story.
It’s called the “burnerverse”: a sprawling network of anonymous college-sports accounts that can look, at first glance, like ordinary shitposting.
Then I started looking closer. And what I found was a highly coordinated network of hundreds of anon accounts, dedicated to doxxing girls and ruining their lives.
My investigation for @WIRED — including some of the men allegedly behind some of these accounts — is out now. wired.com/story/burnerverse-…
