In 93 there was a full LPBG plus FUPBG over 24 hours. The LPBG was at full 792 capacity (9+6 for pax and stores/heavy drop) with full AUW for everyone as we wanted to see if we could do it with every set filled and at full weight.

New high jump record when a spider masquerading as ‘Scott of the Antarctic’, complete with balaclava, was inadvertently crawling inside the sleeve of the better half!

"The objective test of whether there is to be peace or war will be whether the borderland between Russia & the Atlantic states is settled by consent or by pressure, dictation and diplomatic violence" Looks like lot of pressure/dictation Shield of the Republic 1943 - Walt Lippman

“There are decades when nothing happens, and there are weeks when decades happen” Attributed to Lenin, but may as well in geo-political terms have been Trump…l

I read a biography of Baldwin when I was doing 'A' level history. It's now a lot further in time from that point...

My favourite leadership quote is “the capacity & will to rally men & women to a common purpose, and the character that inspires confidence” (Montgomery). No contest.

I want a just and better peace for Ukraine. I think it’s clear what Trump wants. We used to talk of 3 planning interrogatives: - what have we got to do. - how are we going to do it. - how will it be commanded and controlled. The third looks musky dodgy today.

Without history there is no legacy, without a legacy there is no history. Heroes of the Merville Battery on D Day. One WW2 vet still alive aged 102 (too frail to attend).

Peskov is a spokesman, not a policy maker. I can’t find a description of Russia as an enemy in any recent US policy documents. it’s definitely not in the Jan 26 US National Defence strategy, published every 4 years.

Not if they are not deemed to be enemies. Trump has until 18 Oct to implement the Sanctioning Russia act that he signed after it passed both Houses on 18 Sep - some things are mandatory and a lot is discretionary - that will tell us more

The Dec 25 US National Security Strategy stated “the US was committed to UKR’s survival as a viable state, but prioritised improving relations with Moscow as ending the war is a core US interest to re-establish strategic stability with Russia” Farewell Sanctioning Russia act?

He would probably be a lot lower if the same poll were taken today. I was shocked to find that no one under 25 that I was spoke to regarding some research that I was conducting had heard of Scott of the Antarctic (54th).

The US potentially ‘live-streaming’ a public execution reminded me that the last public hanging in Britain took place outside Newgate on 26 May 1868 - 3 days before the Capital Punishment Amendment Act forbade public hangings.
