The problem isn’t talent. It’s exposure gap. Too many brilliant engineers, fabricators, technicians, and innovators leave school without ever touching industrial-grade equipment, solving real manufacturing challenges, or working inside a production ecosystem. That gap is exactly why the EDiC Engineering Boot Camp exists. This is not another classroom program. It is an industry-driven engineering experience designed to bridge the space between technical knowledge and industrial application. At EDiC, we believe industrial transformation starts with building practical capability. That means creating engineers who can design, prototype, fabricate, troubleshoot, maintain, innovate, and manufacture solutions that respond to Uganda’s real needs. The Boot Camp directly supports EDiC’s mission of: ⚙️ Strengthening local manufacturing capabilities. ⚙️ Building industry-ready technical talent. ⚙️ Accelerating innovation commercialization. ⚙️ Creating a generation of solution-oriented engineers. Participants will work in a live manufacturing environment alongside practicing engineers using advanced industrial systems, tools, and processes, the kind of exposure that transforms potential into competence. Because the future of engineering belongs to people who can BUILD. If you are serious about manufacturing, product development, fabrication, industrial systems, or deep-tech innovation, this is your lane. Applications are now open. 📅 Deadline: 12 June 2026 📧 Apply: send your CV/portfolio to [email protected]) 🌐 visit edic.go.ug for more info #EDiC #EngineeringUgandasFuture #Industrialization #ManufacturingUG #EngineeringBootCamp #Innovation #SkillsDevelopment #MadeInUganda #Engineering #Fabrication #STEM #ProductDevelopment #TechnicalSkills #DeepTech #IndustrialTransformation

THROWBACK THURSDAY 🎊🥁 First time at the International UMA Trade Fair. Already bringing home an award! 🏆🇺🇬 The Engineering Development and Innovation Centre received the Best Sector Exhibitor – Innovative Exhibitor award at the recently concluded UMA Trade Fair 2026. An exciting debut, and fresh motivation to keep building Uganda’s engineering and manufacturing potential. Every idea developed, every prototype tested and every product manufactured locally contributes to an industrial future we can shape together. At EDiC, we provide an ecosystem where innovators and manufacturers can access engineering expertise, develop solutions and move from idea to market. To innovators, manufacturers and industry partners: bring us your ideas, prototypes and production challenges. Whether you want to develop a product, improve a component or explore local manufacturing, let’s put our capabilities to work together. Support Ugandan innovation. Partner with EDiC. Help turn local ingenuity into products that serve our communities and compete in wider markets. Thank you to the @UgManufacturers for this recognition, our dedicated team for their work, and everyone who visited our exhibition and connected with us. This is an encouraging beginning. There is so much more we can build together. Build with EDiC. Build in Uganda. Build for the future. #EDiC #UMATradeFair2026 #MadeInUganda #EngineeringInnovation #Manufacturing

This afternoon, the Hon. Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Eng. Jonard Asiimwe Akiiki, received a team from the Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI), together with the Engineering Development and Innovation Centre (EDiC) team, at his office. The engagement focused on strengthening partnerships and charting a sustainable pathway for EDiC to advance Uganda’s engineering and smart manufacturing capabilities, translating engineering knowledge and innovation into products that can be manufactured locally and at scale. The Ministry continues to strengthen the capabilities required for Uganda to engineer, manufacture and meet more of its industrial needs locally, contributing to import substitution, industrialisation and economic transformation. #STIUganda #STIWorks

A New Chapter at EDiC Rwebiteete - Kiruhura District!!
“Let us move from contacts to structured partnerships; from partnerships to bankable projects; from projects to production; and from production to measurable national economic value.” Speaking on behalf of Hon. Minister for @STIsecretariat ,@EngJonard, Hon. Wilson Kajwengye, MP for Nyabushozi County, challenged EDiC to ensure that its vision translates into tangible solutions for Uganda’s industrial challenges. He particularly called on EDiC to establish roots in its immediate community, asking how the Centre can support the farmers surrounding its facilities and become an enabler of agro-industrialisation, a key priority under Uganda’s Tenfold Growth Strategy. He further called for today’s Forum to conclude with a practical partnership and delivery pipeline bringing together manufacturers, universities and research institutions, professional and standards bodies, financial institutions and development partners. The call is for these commitments to become time-bound, measurable actions, tracking technologies commercialised, production challenges solved, enterprises supported, engineers and technicians skilled, private capital mobilised, imports replaced and new markets accessed. @UNDPUganda @STIsecretariat #EDiC #PartnershipAndCoCreation #IndustrialTransformation #UgandanEngineering #AgroIndustrialisation #LocalManufacturing #Innovation #TenfoldGrowthStrategy

What if Uganda’s next industrial chapter is one we build ourselves? Speaking at the EDiC Partnership & Co-Creation Forum 2026, Eng. Flavia Gutto Bwire, a member of the Interim Governing Board, highlighted the need to bridge the gap between Uganda’s knowledge, innovation and productive capacity. From imported components and technologies to promising innovations that struggle to reach the market, she noted the value being lost between the idea and the factory, the prototype and production line, and knowledge and industry. EDiC is being positioned to help close those gaps by connecting people, technology, infrastructure and partnerships to enable Uganda to design, make, commercialise and compete. The opportunity is not simply to make more things locally, but to build the capabilities that allow Uganda to make them competitively. #EDiC #CoCreation #Engineering #AdvancedManufacturing #IndustrialTransformation #Innovation #Uganda

In his presentation, the EDiC Team Lead, Anthony Okimat Opolot, highlighted the Centre’s role in building an integrated national engineering capability that connects industry, academia, innovators, investors and Government to turn engineering solutions into commercially viable products and enterprises. EDiC’s value proposition spans product design and prototyping, precision manufacturing, testing and quality assurance, innovation support and commercialisation, creating a pathway from an idea or industrial challenge to a product that can compete in the market. The call for co-creation is clear: localise what we currently import, build competitive Ugandan manufacturing enterprises, commercialise innovation, and enable locally made products to meet recognised quality standards for domestic and export markets. The question before us today: What can we build together?

From ideas to action. From partnership to impact. At today’s Partnership & Co-Creation Forum, the UNDP Resident Representative, Ms. Nwanneakolam Vwede-Obahor challenged us to move beyond aspirations and deliver practical, tangible results. The call is clear: identify products EDiC can manufacture within months, strengthen collaboration with the private sector, and demonstrate to Government what meaningful partnership can achieve. And to our manufacturers: come to EDiC as clients, not just as tourists. Let’s co-create. Let’s manufacture. Let’s deliver. The time for action is now. #EDiC #PartnershipAndCoCreation #LocalManufacturing #Innovation #PrivateSector #CoCreation #Industrialisation
