Do these people realize that countries with well utilized high speed rail infrastructure also have planes? So all those people are dumb for taking the train? Or maybe...get this...there's a very obvious other useful advantage of trains that isn't about long-distance travel.
wow that's crazy that we have a plane that does it even faster

Much has been said about urban sprawl, but we need to do something about job title sprawl.

Blue collar is worse than all of them. I have never talked to a tradesman and had a good experience. They pick up the phone pissed off, act like a they don't know what you want them to do even though their entire job is doing fucking surveys or whatever. Genuinely as if i am an asshole retard for calling them and asking to pay them money to do the thing their entire business is built on. And then you have to call them every single day just for them to push you off and assure you it will be done soon. I'm waiting on a survey from this guy I stopped calling after he was 2 months past my deadline, assuring me he would "run out there this afternoon." Bro has never reached out or anything i just stopped calling and he stopped pretending to know what i was talking about. I needed a dealership part 2 years ago and they had my car for 15 days even though I had made a reservation. I called them every day and they said it was in line, then on day 10 they said they just ordered the part but I could take my car out and bring it back when the part came but I would go back to the start of the line. At the end of every encounter if they actually do the job, they generally try to ensure that their business is as non functioning as possible so they can provide you with no quotes or actual price until it's time for the bill and they will try to rape you as much as they can get away with. Then 2 months later you will find out they fucked something up massively because they got some illegal Mexican to do your electric and the fix is gonna be way more expensive and it's somehow my fault. I really hate these people more than anyone it's crazy. Endless 40 year old men shamelessly see a 20 year old and think, I bet I could make this 200 dollar problem a 2500 dollar problem. They all need to be in jail.

He did the meme 💀
I just returned from two weeks in Japan, and I have to be honest, it really opened my eyes to how far behind the U.S. is falling in so many basic ways. Some things that stood out: - In two weeks across some of Japan’s most densely populated cities, I saw only two visibly homeless people. - I saw one person who appeared to be struggling with addiction. - High-speed rail made affordable, clean, efficient transportation the norm, not a fantasy. - I never once felt unsafe letting my kids walk freely beside me in public. - Despite having far fewer public trash cans, Japan’s streets had a fraction of the litter. - The country’s reduced income inequality was visible everywhere, from housing to public services. I already know what some right-wing folks will say: “It’s because Japan has low immigration” or “It’s not run by Democrats.” But those are lazy excuses and distractions from the real issues. The truth? We’ve normalized dysfunction in the U.S., and we make excuses for it instead of demanding better.
