Our grades 2,3,4 & 5s had so much fun making turkey obstacle courses for the great turkey race! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! @OLOLChids @OLOLFlames
It has been a BIZARRE 2 years in education, so I’m a bit wary about this round of provincial testing and the possible outcomes…but I sure did LOVE seeing my students using their tools and “doing the math” today. #successfulstudents #mathlearners #problemsolvers
Happy Pride Month to all 2SLGBTQ+ people and their families. I was so happy to walk by my school’s front entrance today, and see that beautiful rainbow flag flying. #lovewins #Pride2022 #loveislove #allGodschildren
This is “Airey Potter”. To be honest, we are all a little suspicious of him since I got covid about four days after his arrival. 😂#keepinganeyeonhim #twoeyesactually
Test day for the G3’s bridges was great fun! We challenged the bridges for strength and stability. Rich, hands on learning and some near disasters in Rm 216. #buildabridge
Today was demonstration day for the G4’s elevators. I am thrilled to declare that all of the student’s creations were successful! GO ENGINEERS!

Newsflash: schools ARE congregate settings. Schools DO provide services to vulnerable individuals. People in schools are “in close contact for extended periods of time”. Current mask mandates should include schools. #MaskUp @celliottability @Sflecce
My G4 friends are using their new learning about pulleys and gears to design/build an elevator that will safely lift and lower a small character a distance of 10 cm. #STEM #problemsolving #Steam
My G3 friends are using their knowledge of strong and stable structures to design/build a bridge that can hold at least five marbles in a cup, and allow safe passage for a tiny car. #buildabridge #STEM #youngengineers
This teacher is on day 8 of isolation and day 5 of treatment with antiviral medication (Paxlovid). Feeling better! Getting my hands on treatment wasn’t easy. Message me if you need pointers, happy to share my story.
Rm 216’s young mathematicians are developing their algebraic reasoning by finding the “mystery numbers” in equations using bar diagrams and balance scales. We are LOVING being back in partners again because it’s always better when we’re together!
All Rm 216 staff and all but a few of our students are masked today. The vibes are calm and respectful ☺️. Students are now seated in partners, facing the front. Those who are not comfortable with a desk partner can choose to be an island.
Today, we took our square metres outside to measure larger surface areas. I saw some effective problem solving, beautiful use of multiplicative thinking and a few funny battles with the wind. #mathoutside #handsonlearning #noteasybreezy
Families, today is a good day to have a chat with your kiddos about kindness and respect regarding the masking choices of others in their schools. My fam and I will continue to wear masks - but we understand that some won’t. #trickysituation #freedomtochoose
If you’ve travelled over March Break, please protect others by wearing a mask for the first couple of weeks back. Stay home if you have any symptoms.
We need to keep wearing masks in our schools to protect those who are medically fragile. You may be healthy enough to fight covid, but not all of us are so lucky.
Thank you @saidat2motivate for the amazing resources to both educate and excite us about black Canadian history! The students loved the interesting people/stories you’ve shared and we will continue our learning in the coming months. #blackexcellence #RepresentationMatters
