(New Pinned) Um, hi? This account is dedicated to anything (most) Walter Lantz. Run by @Mazboy34_/@Mazboy35_ Posts are sparse. But you can always submit clips to my DMs (at least if they haven’t been posted)

For as much as i take issue with the most recent Woody adaptations, I think Eric Bauza’s Woody is one of the bright spots of them. Here’s a personal favorite clip of his performance May he rest in peace. He was gone far too soon

Finally a post that can fill my daily quota
Took a photo of this but accidentally faced the camera towards me at first and realised how much of a fat chuddy chud chud I am. Fuck my cartoon fan life.

Not Lantz (close enough tho lol) but this short is pretty good so check it out
Walter Lantz cartoons were never known for being witty or sophisticated, but he had a multi-decade deal with Universal In 1966, this non-Lantz cartoon FUNNY IS FUNNY by Carl Reiner came out It's cynical, pitch black humor, and never showed up on dvd, blu-ray, or TV syndication

You ever just forget about the weird collaboration between Lantz and Grant-Ray Lawrence on a couple of projects?

Lowkey the reason why the Lantz animators are pretty easy to identify during this period. Their woody designs vary but the animators retain their key traits (Ie: Patterson’s more free flowing style or Abrams’ characters having the same 3 expressions lmao)

Good timing given Steve Stanchfield uploaded a slightly better copy of this one (even if the print is unfortunately suffering from vinegar syndrome)

This I really wish Ben Hardaway didn’t drag down these cartoons as much as he did, there’s a reason why Culhane leaned towards Milt Schaffer for story contributions because he wasn’t adding a bunch of corny puns into these cartoons
Shamus Culhane is such an unsung talent. While the writing in the Woody Woodpecker and Swing Symphony shorts are not particularly strong, Culhane's direction, timing, and editing was ahead of the curve

Not saying these cartoons are bad by any stretch (they’re the peak of Lantz’s output imho) but they had the potential to be even greater
