I’ve been in gamedev for about 20 years. I’ve seen plenty of crises come and go, but we can’t ignore what’s happening now; I’m genuinely worried about my future. Do you think this is really the end of the road? I would like to know the HONEST opinion of other devs. #gamedev

Some art styles look gorgeous in cinematic renders but being able to actually achieve it in a playable fun game is a whole other ball game.
Anyone else notice how some games look ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS in screenshots, but the moment you play them, everything flickers, jitters, and shimmers? 😭 As a game dev, I notice this even when taking my own screenshots. Games in motion can look VERY different from static shots.

I watched Lost Boys for the first time recently. I liked how nonchalant the grandfather was about vampires at the end.

I’m so tired this morning. I’m working on getting back into hiking and the last couple days I got to do a bunch of it at some really pretty places but now my legs are so tired.

Are there any good and free libraries for game sounds?

Libraries are the whispers of dead trees

If you want to share indie games, GOOD PLEASE DO. But for the love of God at the very least name the game. Add a link. Direct people to the actual game. This is O Empire, Ward Off Thy Rot by @AwkSilenceGames store.steampowered.com/app/4…
this indie game has the most original look i’ve seen in a while..
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This game name is "O Empire, Ward Off Thy Rot". store.steampowered.com/app/4331110/O_…

I’ve been posting more on YouTube lately and my shorts do fine but I can’t seem to get views on my long form videos. It’s like a puzzle I have to crack.

We were exhausted by the industry. No money left. Creative spark gone. Ironically, making another game helped us rediscover our love for this craft. You build towers into the sky. You run out of resources. You try again, build higher. The perfect metaphor doesn't exi-🤷‍♂️😂

My dream is to make enough from gamedev to be able to visit Japan some day.

There’s two ways to make a game make all the art from scratch or reuse prebuilt art! Neither one is better than the other because you still need to make a playable fun game which has very little to do with the actual art.

What’s up with the giant skeletons? Is this like a signature of mine now? Does every game just really need a giant skeleton? NecroMerc is like space skeletons game so it fits but…

What a wild night it's been. First the power goes out for almost two hours in the middle of our stream. Then, it turns out we have an adorable overnight guest who appears to have fallen out of our tree. He's doing fine, and we'll be trying to reunite him with his mother tomorrow.

Real talk here: NecroMerc is the game I wasn’t sure I’d come back to. Last year it looked like horror games and fps were a fading genre but people have been downloading and playing the demo so much that when I was deciding which game to work on this summer it won.
