In the @ERC_Research
funded #MolStressH2O project at
@OdysysLab, we’re exploring how aquatic animals deal with climate stressors. From altered DNA repair in baby fish 🐟 to chemical stress signals that ripple through entire communities 🌊, it’s going to be a wild ride.

Last week I had the privilege to present during the #OAWeek2024 how #OceanAcidification combined with #OceanWarming affects shrimp from the Northwest Atlantic. The video now is available here: youtu.be/n7-8vZCHcCw?si=pV6K…

🌎The North American Ocean Acidification Network #OAWeek2024 session will highlight #OceanAcidification indicators in coastal waters, impacts on marine mollusks, as well as combined #OA and #OceanWarming impacts on shrimp populations.

new preprint 🧵: In the midst of a week of news coverage about the oceans aproaching the tipping point of becoming too acidic to sustain marine life, we still don't know how most of those species will actually respond to this. #oceanacidification france24.com/en/live-news/20…

Finally the new @iucn_asg #ACAP is out! We're just a bunch of scientists trying to save amphibians, but the mammoth size of this undertaking only reflects the magnitude of challenges biodiversity including ourselves is facing from habitat loss, to disease and #climatechange.
🌟 The 3rd Amphibian Conservation Action Plan (ACAP) is out!🌟
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the 3rd Amphibian Conservation Action Plan (ACAP).
The document provides a comprehensive roadmap for global amphibian conservation. #AmphibianConservation #ACAP2024

Today I was happy to share at the #SEBconference #SEB2024 part of the @OdysysLab research on how zebrafish embryos lose their heat cross-protection against ultraviolets when social metabolites are present. Thanks to the organisers, collaborators @cybokat and funders @raq_actu

This week the Amphibian Genomics Consortium (AGC) hosted an excellent seminar by Kat Wollenberg Valero @cybokat from University College Dublin.
You can watch Kat's talk and the many others we have lined up for the year by joining the AGC at go.unimelb.edu.au/k2ss

New paper: Concentrations of the plasticiser DEHP (leeching out of common household plastic products) in range with those in Mediterranean coastal waters affect egg number and -diameter in blue mussels. The grey line typically determines minimum diameters of fertilized eggs. 🧵

So I wrote this little paper showing that evolutionary constraint can be predicted from a gene's position within the PPI network. Sure, there are a lot of other processes at play. But I do think this is important, as it seems to hold up for both yeast and mammals..
