Imagine telling a painter:
“We absolutely love your work. We’ve put it in 14 galleries.”
“Oh lovely. Is my name there?”
“No.”
A slightly odd arrangement when you put it like that.
The internet has developed several extremely sophisticated ways of determining whether an image contains a traffic light.
Keeping the artist’s name attached to it remains, apparently, frontier science.

Your name gets removed.
The metadata gets stripped.
The image gets cropped.
The caption disappears.
But somehow the compression artefacts survive every repost.
Marvellous.

Creators: have you ever found your own work somewhere online with the caption:
“Does anyone know who made this?”
There is something wonderfully inefficient about the internet.
Nothing says “support artists” quite like:
“Credit to the artist ❤️”
Which artist?
Apparently that’s classified information.
#Artists #DigitalArt
The internet is quite remarkable.
We can identify a restaurant from half a chair in the background of a photo.
Finding out who actually made the image?
Steady on.

Question for illustrators:
When you post something you're genuinely proud of online, do you still upload the full-resolution version?
Or have you stopped doing that?
#Illustration #Artists
The internet can remember a JPEG from 2009 with frightening accuracy.
Who actually made it?
We've asked too much.
Someone reposts your work without credit.
They get 200,000 views.
You find it three weeks later and they add your name.
Would you consider that fixed?
Artists: if you discovered tomorrow that your entire portfolio had been scraped into an AI training dataset…
What would you actually want to be able to prove?

Your image gets downloaded → reposted → screenshotted → cropped → reposted again.
What information about you realistically survives that journey?

Serious question for artists:
Do you put your name inside the image now?
Not in the caption. Not in metadata.
Actually inside the work.
Has the internet basically forced us back to signing the canvas?
Have you ever reverse-image-searched your own work just to see where it ended up?
Did you find anything you weren't expecting?

How far had it travelled?
