Both can coexist pretty well. RLUSD brings dollar liquidity on-chain, while XRP can facilitate cross-currency flows. The interesting part is how that translates into actual utility for the network.
Brad Garlinghouse says at @Ripple Swell that XRP remains the company's top priority despite its growing focus on RLUSD.
