Our traffic filters warning sign audit continues. There are practically no warning signs about the lack of access to Westgate without a permit along the entire length of Abingdon Road. The one sign that hints at this (without saying so) is hidden behind a series of large trees. – at South Hinksey, England

We're now on the final approach to the Hythe Bridge Sreet OCC toll money spinner. Precious little warning about the £70 fining checkpoint..until seconds before you reach it. Do OCC active travel officers actually drive? – at South Hinksey, England

Teacher friend of mine just had his new family car stolen from in front of his London home, four days after buying it. @metpoliceuk closed the case after just 4 hours. Just 0.9% of London car thefts result in arrests, vs 11% for Berlin and 60% for Tokyo.

OCCs' grand plan for fixing the congestion problems they worsened is revealed! No, they're not going to admit they screwed up, and reverse course (obvs!). But they may put up some signs and fiddle with traffic lights phasing. Maybe introduce a staff car park tax. That'll help!

The experiment is now running. Oxford's state schools, used mainly by the city's residents, aren't broken up. Oxford's private schools, which can have gigantic catchment areas, are starting to go on half term. So let's see what happens over this week, especially from Wednesday.
Next week, we get to re-run / validate our previous experiment, which examined the effects of private (not state) schools on Oxford's weekday traffic hotspots of Banbury / Woodstock Road and Iffley Road. Private schools tend to break up a few days earlier than state schools.

Oxford is slowly destroying its city centre. It's obvious to any visitor. The crazies in charge of Oxfordshire's various councils need to be removed at the first opportunity.
Oxford has closed all but one road to its main shopping centre. And this is the main pedestrian entrance to the same. The city needs a completely different approach to visitors if it wants to thrive again.

Just end it now. It’s failed. The question is how long it takes the (Lib Dem) county council to be brave enough to admit it.
It's great to see how Oxford's traffic filters scheme has comprehensively freed up access to the city's hospitals. 🧐 P.s. isn't the traffic filter signage factually wrong for most of the day? Cars can use MFR unhindered, whenever the filters aren't operating.

This is unacceptable and the council must have a timely process in place to switch off the Thames St (Abingdon Road) traffic filter to avoid this situation happening again. This should be well communicated - perhaps with signage at the exit of the Westgate car park.

As the BBC reports on people being fined due to OCCs emept congestion charge to traffic filters migration, OCCs social media feeds studiously ignore the problem. Instead, they continue to pump PR guff like this... And yes, we know...

Oxfordshire County has even screewed up side roads on industrial estate around Botley Road with its madcap traffic filters - on a week day afternoon. Are visitors to stone masons and cash and carries expected to lug away their purchases on back packs and bikes? Apparently so.

One of multiple concerning reports we've seen that customers were unable to exit the Westgate Centre car park yesterday. Thames St filter should be switched off in these emergencies to allow people to get home. The reputational damage to Oxford is immense.

This story, about a congestion charge permit holder being fined for a traffic filters breach, sparked numerous "that happened to me" responses on social media. OCC were asked by its own scunity committee to use a different supplier, following complaints. OCC ignored the advice – at Wolvercote, England

For once a councillor on our side & who gets it. Saj Malik asking for some of the LTN's to be open for couple of days so we can get in & out of east oxford. taking an hour to travel 1 mile.
I have requested to Oxfordshire county council & Cllr Gareth Epps to open up temporarily Cowley Ltns to ease off the traffic in Cowley. People are stuck in the traffic for long time and getting frustrated. Please open the Ltns for couple of days.

OCC's traffic filters haven't solved a thing. They have, however, massively weakened the resilience of the city's road network. The officers responsible should be fired.

Between towns road is closed for 2 days All of east Oxford is at a standstill. every. single. road But the council wont open the LTN's as a diversion because they couldnt care less if we miss hospital appointments, our kids are late for school & our shops are empty

These people are insane and genuinely want to make your lives as difficult as possible.
'How can you carry a ladder on a bike!?' @FestAKINBUSOYE isn't convinced by @HinaBokhariLD's suggestion that builders could use cargo bikes to help tackle high fuel costs...

Hythe Bridge St + most of East Oxford is more congested since the Traffic Filters were introduced. “If congestion is simply displaced and accessing the city becomes more difficult, that isn’t solving the problem, it’s moving it.” telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

5 oclock. People just trying to get home, pick their kids up but the traffic filters have gridlocked east oxford. Not a chance customers are going to bother trying to get to our businesses. Cheers to the Libdems, labour & greens who came up with this plan for oxford
