TSHWANE ANNOUNCES OVERNIGHT WATER RESTRICTIONS AFFECTING SEVERAL AREAS IN PRETORIA AND CENTURION
The City of Tshwane has announced temporary overnight water restrictions affecting several reservoirs and surrounding communities as it battles continued pressure on its water supply network.
The restrictions came into effect at 17:00 on Saturday, 31 October, and will remain in place until 05:00 on Sunday, 1 November 2026.
The city says the intervention involves temporarily reducing or closing water supply to selected reservoirs to allow them to recover and help stabilise the broader distribution network.
According to the municipality, exceptionally high water consumption continues to place severe pressure on its storage and distribution systems.
Although the selected reservoirs currently have adequate water levels, demand in the areas they supply remains exceptionally high.
The overnight restrictions are intended to balance the network and improve supply to communities already experiencing water shortages.
🔴 SIX RESERVOIRS ARE AFFECTED:

Residents in these areas may experience low water pressure or temporary interruptions to their water supply during the restriction period.
The City has warned that even after supply is reopened from 05:00 on Sunday, water will be restored gradually.
The time it takes for water to reach households will differ depending on their location and the condition of the network.
💧 RESIDENTS URGED TO SAVE WATER
The municipality is appealing to residents who still have water to use it sparingly and limit consumption to essential household needs.
Residents are urged to:
Avoid watering gardens.
Avoid washing vehicles.
Do not fill swimming pools.
Limit unnecessary household water consumption.
Use available water responsibly.
The City says reducing consumption, particularly in areas where supply remains available, will help preserve water and improve the recovery of the network for communities experiencing shortages.
The municipality has apologised for the inconvenience and thanked residents for their patience and cooperation while its teams work to stabilise the water supply.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, store reasonable amounts of water for essential use and avoid unnecessary consumption.

MARX FAMILY APPEALS FOR PRIVACY AS DONOVAN REMAINS IN ICU AFTER BRUTAL FARM ATTACK
The family of Donovan Marx has appealed to the public to respect their privacy, stop spreading unverified information and allow police to complete their investigation into the brutal farm attack that left him seriously injured.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the family urged South Africans to give Donovan the opportunity to recover without unnecessary media speculation or interference in the criminal investigation.
“Give Donovan the opportunity to recover, respect the family’s privacy and allow SAPS to complete its investigation without unnecessary interference,” the family said in its closing appeal.
The family also strongly rejected false rumours circulating about the nature of his injuries, specifically claims that he had been castrated or that his genitals had been removed. It described these claims as completely untrue and called on those spreading them to stop immediately.
Marx remains in a stable but serious condition in the intensive care unit at Mediclinic Potchefstroom following the attack on 28 October.
According to the family’s account, he was shot, kicked, beaten and stabbed during the assault.
His confirmed injuries include a gunshot wound to his back, with the bullet passing through a kidney, and an injury to his colon that required surgeons to remove part of the organ. He also sustained a stab wound to his leg.
Both his ears were cut off and could not be surgically saved.
The family says prosthetic ear reconstruction may be considered in future, depending on further medical assessments and his recovery.
His injuries remain serious, and his recovery will require time and further medical attention.
The family has expressed gratitude for the medical care he is receiving and the progress made so far.
The SAPS investigation is reportedly at a sensitive stage. The family says it has full confidence in the investigators and is cooperating with the authorities through its legal representatives.
It will not comment further on the details of the attack, possible suspects or investigative leads, saying it wants to ensure that the investigation is not compromised.
Ian Cameron, chairperson of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Police, has supported the family’s appeal, emphasising that false information about Marx’s injuries must be corrected and that investigators should be allowed to carry out their work without unnecessary interference.
The family has thanked people across South Africa for their prayers, encouraging messages, offers of assistance and practical support.
It says its immediate priorities remain Donovan’s treatment and recovery, as well as ensuring that the criminal investigation is completed thoroughly.

TSHWANE WATER: SEVERAL RESERVOIRS CRITICALLY LOW – CITY URGES RESIDENTS TO CUT CONSUMPTION
@CityTshwane
The City of Tshwane has warned that several water supply systems remain under severe pressure due to exceptionally high consumption and constrained bulk water supply.
The affected areas include:
Region 1: Soshanguve L, Mabopane and surrounding areas.
Region 3: Klapperkop, Carina and Heights.
Region 4: Atteridgeville, Laudium and surrounding areas.
Region 6: Garsfontein, Elardus Park and Moreleta.
The Atteridgeville High Level reservoir is effectively depleted, while Klapperkop, Garsfontein and Soshanguve L systems are also critically low.
Residents could experience low water pressure, intermittent supply and temporary water outages, particularly in high-lying areas.
The City says demand is exceeding available water inflows, preventing reservoirs from recovering sufficiently.
Operational interventions are under way, including controlled supply measures, balancing available water between reservoirs and engagements with the bulk water supplier.
Residents and businesses are urgently urged to reduce consumption and avoid watering gardens, washing vehicles and filling swimming pools.
The City warns that the situation remains serious and that water supply recovery will depend on improved bulk supply and reduced consumption.
