Most of your onchain capital does nothing.
It sits locked as collateral, backs a loan, and otherwise just waits. Everyone has quietly accepted this as the cost of borrowing.
Auto-Topup changes it. And it's live today. 🧵
I've never really understood why every financial move we make onchain needs to be connected to the same public wallet.
Anyone can look up your address, see where your funds are going and follow your activity across different protocols.
Transparency has its benefits but I don't think it should mean giving up all financial privacy.
@Starknet has been working on changing that, and the recent STRK20 updates are a good example.
--> Using DeFi without exposing your main wallet
STRK20 Shadow Accounts allow users to interact with applications through separate addresses that aren't publicly linked to their main wallet.
The interesting part is that these accounts can maintain positions over time, so they're useful for things like lending, borrowing and liquidity provision.
Starknet recently highlighted several projects exploring these possibilities:
- @trovesfi for private yield opportunities
- @ekuboprotocol for swaps and liquidity provision
- @haven_fi_ for private neobanking
- @supervegaxyz for private options trading
- @opusmoney for borrowing
There's an important detail worth understanding, though.
Shadow Accounts don't hide everything.
Their balances, transactions and positions can still be visible onchain.
What they protect is the public connection between those activities and your main wallet.
I think that's a useful distinction, especially for people who don't want every application they use connected to their entire financial history.
--> And there's another big decision being discussed
On October 22, Starknet's community vote closed with 93.52% of voting power supporting research into becoming an independent post-quantum L1.
That doesn't mean Starknet is leaving Ethereum tomorrow.
The vote only approved further research and any actual transition would need another decision.
The reason behind it is security.
Starknet already uses hash-based STARK proofs and programmable accounts but parts of its infrastructure still depend on Ethereum's cryptography.
Having its own L1 could give Starknet more control over future security upgrades.
Of course, replacing the security Ethereum currently provides would be a serious responsibility.
For me, these two developments raise questions that crypto needs to take seriously.
How much of our financial activity should be public?
And how much control should a network have over its own security when the technology protecting it needs to change?
I'm interested in seeing how @Starknet handles both, especially as the L1 research moves forward and more applications start using STRK20.
There's still work to do, but at least these questions are being addressed through actual development and community decisions.

Pretty solid DeFi infrastructure, ngl. @OpusMoney makes LPing easier by letting you deposit $CASH or $USDC while it handles the pool setup for you.
Less manual work, smoother entry into DeFi. Just remember, easier access doesn't mean zero risk. DYOR before you deposit.
All you can do privately.
+ private yield on @trovesfi
+ @ekuboprotocol for private LPing with private swaps
+ private neobanking with @haven_hn_
+ @supervegaxyz for private options trading
+ private borrowing on @opusmoney

Shadow Accounts: Keep your main wallet private while using DeFi.
Shadow Accounts is now live on @Starknet.
What caught my attention is the idea of giving users a Public → Private switch without publicly linking their DeFi activity to their main wallets.
Built on STRK20, it lets users interact with DeFi through a separate address funded by their protected balance.
Think providing liquidity on @EkuboProtocol, opening positions on @SuperVegaXYZ, or borrowing on @OpusMoney.
Activity on the shadow account remains visible onchain. What stays private is the link to your main wallet.
I think this is an important step toward making privacy a practical part of everyday DeFi.
