Fairchild’s Million Orchid Project is a massive educational outreach program dedicated to orchid conservation. Now in it’s tenth year we have hit the halfway mark with 500,000 native orchids planted, many of which are rare and endangered species. #orchid #orchidconservation – at Coral Gables, FL

Why the smile? 🤔 The @josemartimast orchid lab is growing - and so are orchid seeds! Both laminar flow hoods are now in use and we successfully germinated Encyclia tampensis (native butterfly orchid) seeds! 😃🌿#mast2223 @MDCPSNorth @SuptDotres @verenanro @OrchidSTEMLab

#APStatistics students at @josemartimast harvest seed pods from Bletia purpurea (pine pink orchids) grown on campus in our #native arboretum. Next? Sterilize & dehisce in our orchid lab so we can germinate the seeds! 😃🌿#mast2122 @FairchildGarden @OrchidSTEMLab @millionorchid

Cyrtopodium macrobulbon is putting on a show @fairchildgarden. This Brazilian #orchid is often confused for our Florida native, Cyrtopodium punctatum. You can distinguish these two cow-horn orchids because C. macrobulbon has a burgundy red flower stalk and larger pseudobulbs.

Native Orchids are back in South Pointe Park for the first time in over 100 years! We had a great planting day with Fairchild’s @millionorchid team & community members from near and far. Soon, these rare orchids will begin blooming and regrowing on their own. @miamibeachnews
