That was a very enjoyable @F1 race! Good fights, good comebacks, good drama. Congratulations to @LewisHamilton for ending the drought and let’s keep this close battle going!

2k days of learning languages, here’s to another 2k! The main languages I’m studying/have studied: - Italian - Spanish - Japanese I’ve dabbled in others, but I’m pretty good at these three. :)

Hey, network cable industry, I have a question: Why don't you have a 305m roll of black CAT6/CAT6A for INDOOR use? All black cables are outdoor cable, which works fine indoor, but I really don't want to pay 200+ euro for a standard box of CAT6... Black cable is easier to hide.

Got a week of good old fashioned low level microcontroller programming in. Sometimes I forget how much I love to tinker with the low level stuff, especially if I get paid for it.

Although I do get the history of Monaco in Formula 1, please @F1, for the love of all things that you deem holy: Get rid of this fucking borefest of a race. Nothing happens. Nobody overtakes, it’s just so fucking boring.

I’ve been stuck in datasheets, circuit diagrams and “sample code” all week and all I have to say is; 9-bit 3-wire SPI driving sucks. Especially on an ESP32 driving anything more than 2” TFT screen…

I see fucking idiots are blaming HAARP again for a (verifiable) natural solar eruption, causing the Northern lights… We used to be able to ignore these people, but thanks to social media they have an audience. Idiocracy is turning out to be a documentary instead of a comedy…

Oh, and if you’re an idiot blaming HAARP for this. Friday night’s electromagnetic radiation was over 250 gigawatts. If one (or multiple) radio arrays produced that, they needed the output of between 125 and 250 nuclear power plants to be able to emit enough radiation…

Since HAARP (and similar) antennas are located in really remote areas like northern Alaska and lapland, how exactly is that power going there? And where do we keep the spare nuclear power plants?

Yeah, Lando Norris! If there’s one guy in F1 that deserved his first win (especially after all this time), it’s him!

It’s 2024 and Ubiquiti has finally decided to support SNMP on their Dream Machine lineup… It only took them 5 years to add the SNMP package by default to their Debian based OS…

Sad to see that Shelly IoT devices went the way of paid cloud subscriptions. I used to recommend them, because they were entirely manageable locally and you could disable cloud access. They’ve made that extremely hard to do now and are aggressively pushing subscriptions.

Confirmed that they still can work locally. xitter.cf/Scott_Helme/status/178… It's still very strange to see (for me) that they went the way of (optional) paid subscriptions, but I guess every company is tempted by the regular income.
I switched to the new app ages ago, still have no cloud connection and everything works as it did. What am I missing here?

The old app, that could be used (with full functionality) on local only devices now just shows this. xitter.cf/OverSoftNL/status/1782…
Replying to @alexbloor
BTW, the old app, that was able to fully manage local devices just shows this now.

The new app, that does no local control without a cloud connection, now looks like this. xitter.cf/OverSoftNL/status/1782…
It looks like this now (all my devices are local only).

Spring is coming, and it’s about fucking time. Oh, and for non Dutchies: the first picture is how you do a bike path. This is NOT a road where cars are allowed.
