The Brazilian Federal Police requested the seizure of his passport following the elections because they had identified that he intended to flee if he lost. The fact that he did, in fact, leave the country the day after the election proves that the police were right.

My best guess is that they are going to strike Iran very soon, and are weary of possible Iranian hacks to both the US electric grid & communication software - thus they are preparing to be self-sufficient.
That said, any renewed attack on Iran won't go well for the US, or the rest of the world for that matter. The US has nukes and might well use them, but that won't stop Iran from destroying refineries and desalination plants all over the GCC, and hitting Israel's own nuclear reactors - to say nothing of all the data cables running underneath the SoH.
