Proud to formally announce my book, AUGUSTA: AN AMERICAN MUSE, coming in 2027. AUGUSTA expands on my November 2024 profile for @VanityFair, the second most read piece in the magazine that year, to cover the full half decade relationship between Augusta Britt and Cormac McCarthy.

“Carry me back to old Virginny, There let me live till I wither & decay, Long by the old Dismal Swamp have I wander'd, There's where this old darkey's life will pass away. Massa & missis have long gone before, Soon we will meet on that bright & golden shore, There we'll be happy & free from all sorrow, There's where we'll meet & we'll never part no more.” 🎶

This volume is a priceless piece of Southern Literature. By all logic it should be at a major Southern university archive except none of them care or value it because they hate their own heritage. So it’s in the best hands possible.

In 2024 I bought "Donald Davidson's Hand-Annotated Copy" of So Red the Rose. Assumed this whole time they were Davidson's annotations. Currently deciphering them. They are definitely Stark Young's and seem to be specifically written for Davidson.

Dr Kibler stops by @FarmsOnMain almost every Friday. We have a few of his books available for sale, including Classical Origins, but especially the Dutch Fork books.
