#Algae from #Stuttgart on the #ISS! This was taken last year, after our photobioreactor experiment was taken into microgravity.
If you want to know more, our Dr. Gisela Detrell gave an interview on BBC Radio! Find it here: bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000cy… (timestamp: 18:20min-21:20min)

One week later than in the @Space_Station, the algae have been inoculated in the parallel experiment on the @UniStuttgartIRS lab! Let's see how differently the same experiment works on Earth and in Space! 😁
The IRS science team has been watching the algae inoculation in the @PBRatLSR at the #ISS today! Thanks a lot to @AstroAnnimal for the great job! We are really looking forward to the next 6 months! 😁 #spaceexploration

Scientists from the University Stuttgart developed an experimental photobioreactor (PBR; built by company Airbus). The PBR is meant to deliver longterm oxyen supply and nutrition. PBR was send to ISS with a Space-X rocket, being tested in the expedition #61 (beyond). 1/n

In space travel, we need special systems to remove carbon dioxide from the air & generate oxygen. Right now on station, we're testing new life support systems that will help us prepare for trips to the Moon. Learn more about the Photobioreactor! nasa.gov/mission_pages/stati… #Moon2024
Maybe it would be good to produce oxygen and food for the astronauts with algae, then? 😊
We are going to the Moon — to stay.
We will build sustainable infrastructure to support missions to Mars and beyond. This is what we’re building. This is what we’re training for. We are going. #Moon2024
I am ready to be installed at the #ISS The science team in @UniStuttgartIRS have their room ready to watch it! 😀
