These kids have some great ideas — and because of our new state budget, we’ve already delivered on a few of them.

Today, Secretary of Health Dr. Debra Bogen and @PADeptofEd Secretary Dr. Carrie Rowe stopped by @NorthernYorkSD 🐻‍❄️ to check out the “Bear Necessities” program, which offers free everyday essentials to families and staff who need them. Their visit also showed how the Shapiro Administration’s effort to provide free period products in schools is already making a real, positive impact.

We’ve increased funding for public education by nearly $3 billion during my time as Governor — and it shows. Graduation rates are up for the third year in a row, and we're ranked as one of the top states in the nation for public education. This budget doubles down on our work to fund free school breakfast for every student, expand mental health services, repair outdated school buildings to keep our kids safe and healthy, and so much more.

I am honored & humbled to serve as the next PA Secretary of Education. I share @GovernorShapiro's belief that every learner deserves the freedom to chart their own course, & I am eager to work in close partnership with the General Assembly & others to make that vision a reality.
Dr. Carrie Rowe has dedicated her entire career to serving students, teachers, and parents — creating real opportunities for our young people at every level of Pennsylvania’s education system. Today, she was overwhelmingly confirmed by the State Senate to be Pennsylvania’s new Secretary of the @PADeptofEd. Congratulations, Secretary Rowe – I look forward to your continued leadership in getting more stuff done for the next generation of Pennsylvanians.
