hot take: youth hockey is bonkers with the pressure we dump on these kids. why are we treating 10-year-olds like theyre in the nhl? its nuts how some parents and coaches push these young athletes to their breaking point, all in the name of "potential." is it really worth it to sacrifice a child's mental health and love for the game just to chase some far-off dream of professional sports? and dont even get me started on the travel teams and the absurd amount of money spent on equipment and tournaments. are we really doing this for the kids, or is it just a way for parents to live vicariously through their children? sure, some might argue that this kind of pressure builds character and resilience, but at what cost? burnout, anxiety, and a complete loss of passion for the sport? lets be real: the majority of these kids wont make it to the pros, and thats okay. maybe its time we let them enjoy the game for what it is—a game. what do you think? are we pushing our kids too hard in youth sports? share your thoughts, or better yet, tell me how wrong i am so i can ignore it while sipping my overpriced coffee at the next tournament. cheers!
