Celebrating Five Years of SAIA ✨ Back in July 2021, a conversation between our co-founders sparked a movement 💡, and SAIA was founded as the first patient-clinician collaboratively led organization in the IBD space. Together, we've amplified the voices of the South Asian IBD community, published landmark research 🔬, delivered educational webinars 💻, brought global experts together through symposia and Clinical Research Roundtables at DDW 🩺, and created spaces for connection, culture and celebration through our ACG receptions. 🥂 As our community grew, so did our vision. We heard from patients, caregivers and clinicians across diverse communities who shared similar experiences. This inspired us to expand our mission beyond South Asian IBD to Culture & GI, making our work more inclusive while staying true to the values we were built on. 🙌🏻🙌🏽🙌🏾 None of this would have been possible without our patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, researchers, partners, volunteers and supporters 👥. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us grow every step of the way. Five years on, we're just getting started! What an incredible few days at IBD Conclave 2.0 in Hyderabad, India! 🇮🇳 After leading a Guinness World Record setting patient awareness session with SAIA’s Medical Advisor Dr Kiran Peddi, the momentum continued throughout the conference, with experts from around the world sharing knowledge, innovation, and a shared vision for improving #IBD care. 🩺 Here are a few highlights: 🔸 Our COO, Madhura Balasubramaniam, served as Master of Ceremonies 🎤 for the conference, a tremendous honour and a reflection of her leadership within the global GI community. 🔸 Dr. Parakkal Deepak chaired an important multidisciplinary panel on 'Management of Fistulizing Crohn's Disease', joined by SAIA President Dr. Bincy Abraham, CEO Tina Aswani-Omprakash, and Medical Advisor Dr. Shaji Sebastian, who explored collaborative approaches to improving patient outcomes. 🔬 🔸 Dr. Bincy Abraham led an insightful session on 'Beyond JAK and Biologics: Icotrokinra & Obefazimod - Is an Oral Revolution Coming for UC?' 💡 highlighting emerging therapies for #UlcerativeColitis. 🔸 Dr. Sumit Bhatia led a fascinating discussion on 'Bugs, Barriers & Beyond: Translating the Microbiome into IBD Practice,' exploring the evolving role of microbiome science in the future of IBD care. 🦠 A heartfelt thank you to our incredible SAIA Leaders, everyone who attended, and all those who contributed to making this conference such a success.
