Gonna be a be-you-tee-ful evening in #YEG for some @GoElks Football! My husband is enjoying the game in the alumni room...hob-nobbing with the alumni, so it is just me, myself & I tonight. #GoElks #UnitedInPink #CFL 🏈 – at Edmonton, Alberta

My late husband chose the day he would die. And I was beside him when that day came.
That sentence is incredibly difficult to write.
But it’s also why I feel compelled to say something.
Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of misinformation about MAID online. Claims about what the process looks like, who can access it, what safeguards exist and how decisions are made.
For me, this isn’t an abstract debate. It isn’t a political talking point. It’s part of my life.
My late husband chose medical assistance in dying. I was there through the process—from the conversations and assessments to the safeguards, the waiting, the preparation and, ultimately, the moment when he died.
I know what it feels like to sit beside someone you love while they make one of the most profound decisions a person can make.
I also know that my experience is just that—my experience. It doesn’t make me an expert on every aspect of MAID, and it doesn’t mean everyone’s circumstances are the same.
But I do think firsthand experience matters.
So I want to share what I learned—not to tell anyone what they should believe about MAID, but to help separate what actually happens from what people are claiming happens online.
You can support MAID. You can oppose it. You can have complicated feelings about it.
But whatever position you take, I believe we owe people the truth.
Because behind every debate about MAID are people.
People who are suffering.
People who are making impossible decisions.
People who love them.
And families who have to live with those decisions long after the conversation online has moved on.

What a truly touching night in Sydney.
Thank you to Jai Arrow for giving me some time and answering a few questions.

This wrecked me. So heartwarming but also heartbreaking. Forced to retire from #NRL after a MND (ALS) diagnosis, the ultimate respect paid to Jai Arrow. Two beautiful games "played" allowing him to reach 100 with the @SSFCRABBITOHS. Well done. Well done indeed. ❤️ – at Edmonton, Alberta
Reading that Lionel Ritchie is in the hospital, in ICU. Mr. Grim Reaper, sir...I'm not the biggest Lionel Ritchie fan, but there's a few other souls, one mango colored in particular, I would gladly trade for his... – at Edmonton, Alberta
My Mom died 37 years ago today. I was almost 13. She was killed by a drunk driver. I miss her every day. I am heartbroken at all that she has missed. You never "get over" a loss like this. The grief never ends, it just learns to sit with love ❤️ #GuardianAngel #Mom #Grief – at Edmonton, Alberta

I have never felt more like Grandpa Simpson than I have since moving into this neighbourhood. SO many kids. Screeching up & down the sidewalks on bikes, scooters & skateboards. The incessant basketball bouncing? So loud! #GetOffMyLawn #GrumpyOldLady #Summertime #YEG
Who needs sleep when you can watch & listen to yet another nasty thunderstorm in the wee hours. C'mon Ma Nature enough is enough! #YEG #YEGwx #Almost4AM
I'm way late to this particular #WorldCup2026 party, but those American kits are...well...stripey. By stripey, I mean ugly. #ISaidWhatISaid #NotAFan #RoundOf32
The thunder, it got me, again. All those hours spent sitting with Kya as the thunder rumbled around us & the lightning lit up the sky. Our first real intense boomers since she passed, it brought tears, a tightness in my chest. A reminder of my girl. I miss her so fiercely. 🌩💔🌩
