Out today in Immunity! Our pan-atlas of human immune aging: 12.4 million PBMCs from 2,609 people across 8 global cohorts (including new 188 people cohort from UK). cell.com/immunity/fulltext/S… We map shared aging patterns onto 59 key immune populations and link the balance of GZMK+ and GZMB+ CD8 effector memory T cells to health trajectories; show differences in RTEs and Th2s with sex etc; ethnicity associated features. artyomovlab.wustl.edu/human-… How it came to be: in 2023 we published first hierarchically annotatied atlas of human immune aging in PBMC - 166 people, 55 populations, key changes revealed - CD8 naives, KLRC2/NKG2C+ CD8 memory going down, GZMK+ CD8 T cells and Th2 and Tc2 type 2 memory cells going up! (Terekhova et al, Immunity 2023) in 2024 we added major phenotypes within naive cells - SOX4+ RTE cells and their CD38 marker going down. (Bohacova et al, Immunity 2024) In 2025-26 more atlases published with their own annotations making impossible to leverage power of data.. Now we provide unique in its power and consistency resource - 2600 people across ages, sexes, races, continents etc. All annotated in sync and analyzed for what aging looks like globally!

About 15% of ~40,000 people who developed cancer have pathogenic (disease-causing) genome variants (PVs) when their DNA was sequenced. That's a big proportion of cancer that would set up prevention or very early detection which is completely missed today @AACR @CD_AACR aacrjournals.org/cancerdisco…

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most challenging cancers, but there is hope — and progress. Since 1999, PanCAN has been leading the fight against pancreatic cancer through research, patient support, advocacy and community action. We’re working to accelerate pancreatic cancer research, advance early detection, connect patients to the best care and improve survival. But our work isn’t finished. We won’t stop until pancreatic cancer is caught early, every patient has access to the treatment they deserve, and survival is the expectation — not the exception. It’s going to take all of us. Together, we can change the story of pancreatic cancer. 💜 Visit 🔗 pancan.org to learn more.

MSK scientists from @LoweLabMSKCC and @Dan_A_Heller's lab engineered nanoparticles to target cells driving scarring around many liver and lung tumors. In mice, this reduced scarring and helped immunotherapy shrink tumors that resisted treatment. The laboratory findings, published in @ScienceMagazine, potentially pave the way for new approaches against immunotherapy-resistant tumors, as well as for a host of other fibrotic and inflammatory diseases. PanCAN President and CEO Julie Fleshman shares: "Last week was PanCAN’s annual Scientific Summit in San Diego ahead of #AACRpanc26, and I left feeling inspired by how far this field has come and energized by what lies ahead. The Summit brought together leading researchers, clinicians, industry partners, survivors and donors at a remarkable moment for pancreatic cancer. Following the approval of RASONQUE (daraxonrasib), there was a real sense of possibility in the room — from advances in RAS-targeted treatments to new approaches to earlier detection and the potential of health data. What made the experience especially meaningful to me was seeing PanCAN’s impact throughout the Summit. Researchers whose work we have funded shared their latest progress, our Research Recovery Grantees demonstrated the importance of sustaining critical science and nine emerging scientists joined us through PanCAN travel scholarships. These investments are helping build a thriving field — a core part of PanCAN’s mission and our role as a leader in accelerating progress. I’m proud of what we are helping make possible and deeply grateful to everyone who is contributing to this work. Together, we are truly turning science into survival." Stay tuned for key takeaways from the 2026 PanCAN Scientific Summit, shared by PanCAN Chief Scientific and Medical Officer Dr. Anna Berkenblit, coming in October. 🔬

As part of our commitment to accelerate breakthrough research through the All Together We Can campaign, PanCAN announces nearly $3 million in grants that support cutting-edge science and fill critical gaps in the pancreatic cancer funding landscape. 🔬 The four Catalyst Research Awards, totaling nearly $2 million, are aimed at harnessing the power of tumor tissue, blood samples and patient data to accelerate the development of new treatments for patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer. This unparalleled resource — collected from participants in the PanCAN Precision Promise adaptive clinical trial platform — fills a critical gap in the research landscape. We’re providing researchers the materials they need to identify biomarkers of treatment response and resistance that can be targeted for more effective therapies. The goal is to drive discovery, inform trial design and bring us closer to a future where precision medicine is a reality for every person faced with this disease. Data generated from the awards will be integrated into PanCAN’s SPARK Research Data Platform and made available for future use by the pancreatic cancer research community, multiplying the value of these projects. Our eight Research Recovery Grants, totaling $1 million, fill the gap to rescue science that was otherwise going to go unfunded due to federal funding uncertainties. We are strategically targeting a breadth of topics and scientists at various career stages. These grants support researchers as the field reaches a critical turning point: With more RAS-targeting therapies in the pipeline than ever before, our goal is to keep the momentum we need to deliver breakthroughs as soon as possible for patients and families facing this disease. Meet this year’s Catalyst Research Award and Research Recovery Grant recipients at 🔗 pcan.at/bs58394r.
