Canadian tech has quietly come of age: From 1.6% to 10% of TSX, dozens of $100M+ revenue companies, and a new generation of ‘heavy’ tech firms built to last.
The future is being built here 🚀 🇨🇦
My latest feature, a story several months in the making. Welcome to the US$100-million club: With dozens of scaled-up tech companies, Canada is poised to deliver a wave of quality IPOs theglobeandmail.com/business…

The Logic +1.
Or +7, actually—our shop is looking to add three editors, three reporters and a producer. Positions and deadlines threaded.
I'll answer any questions you have about what it's like to work here as honestly as I can—DM or email.

Shooting your shot without overthinking truly is a superpower. As a founder you receive so many cold messages that it eventually makes you great at sending cold messages yourself bc you understand what you’d respond to and what you’d disregard and consider spammy.
I’ve been mastering the art of the ✨cold DM✨ ever since I started my company, and it’s led to things like:
- Free press features on publications like @BusinessInsider and @Digiday that led to a lot of new clients and opportunities 💻
- Public speaking opportunities at conferences around the world 🌎
- New clients and dream creative projects 🌟
- Cool brand partnerships and collaborations with other Gen Z-led brands 🤝
And so much more! Doing this for the past 3+ years has taught me a lot about how to reach out to people and actually get a response.
Lmk if you'd like me to forward you some successful examples that worked for me and I’ll dm you!

If the saying "no news November" was a thing, it would be wrong...
There have been so many announcements in the past 10ish days alone🤯

Consumers!
1. What are you prioritizing spending on right now and why?
2. What are your spending plans for the holiday season?
3. Is this different than how you prioritized spending pre-pandemic?

The tech scene has been a lot recently but, admittedly, its unpredictability makes my job oh so much more interesting 😅

Curious how people would rank these four news cycles from most to least interesting. I’m biased but I’ll go first:
1. elon + Twitter
2. openAI
3. SBF
4. SVB
This is probably also the order for how interesting these stories are to *non* tech people

Elon’s Twitter takeover: “omg craziest tech story ever!”
SBF: “omg craziest tech story ever!”
SVB collapse: “omg craziest tech story ever!”
OpenAI: “omg craziest tech story ever!”

Im partnered with OpenAI and I’m partnered with Sam, Satya Nadella said on @BloombergTV chuckling as he said — and thats exactly where I am Monday.
Regardless of where Sam is, he’s working with Microsoft, Nadella said. That was the case Friday, its the case today, and it’ll be the case tomorrow. – at Southern District, Hong Kong

Another callout!!! Looking for brands available in Canada (bonus points if they’re a Canadian brand) that are having Black Friday sales! Send me the deets via DM or email 🫶🏼💸🛍️
Incredibly disappointed with my experience at RBC today. First time increasing my limit for transfers for my business account and was spoken to so condescendingly, told that the amount I had in my account "isn't very much, although I'm sure it's a lot to [me]", and more.
🧵1/
He then proceeded to tell me that my one-year-old business was "a baby" and that its up to them how much I'm allowed to move in and out of my account.
