Dankzij SAFE krijgt België toegang tot 8,34 miljard euro aan voordelige Europese financiering om Defensie versneld te versterken. We investeren samen met Europese partners in moderne capaciteiten die essentieel zijn in de conflicten van vandaag: luchtafweer, drones, precisiewapens, satellieten en bescherming tegen hybride dreigingen. Sterke defensie vraagt sterke samenwerking. Dank aan vicepremier en minister van Financiën @JanJambon, en aan Eurocommissarissen @Piotr_Serafin en @KubiliusA voor hun engagement voor een sterker Europees defensiebeleid.

Grâce à SAFE, la Belgique pourra bénéficier de 8,34 milliards d’euros de financement européen avantageux afin de renforcer plus rapidement sa Défense. Nous investissons avec nos partenaires européens dans des capacités modernes essentielles face aux conflits d’aujourd’hui : défense aérienne, drones, munitions de précision, satellites et protection contre les menaces hybrides. Er is een akkoord bereikt met ENGIE om de voorwaarden te bepalen en de nodige studies op te starten voor een volledige overname van het Belgische nucleaire park. In afwachting daarvan worden alle ontmantelingsactiviteiten per direct stopgezet.
Deze regering kiest voor zekere, betaalbare en duurzame energie. Met minder afhankelijkheid van fossiele import en meer controle over onze eigen voorziening.

Un accord a été conclu avec ENGIE afin de définir les conditions et de lancer les études nécessaires en vue d’une reprise complète du parc nucléaire belge. D'ici là, toutes les activités de démantèlement sont suspendues avec effet immédiat.
Ce gouvernement fait le choix d'une énergie sûre, abordable et durable, avec moins de dépendance aux importations fossiles et plus de contrôle sur notre propre approvisionnement.

Belgian prime minister Bart De Wever met his Dutch counterpart Rob Jetten in Brussels on Tuesday for their first bilateral talks.
The meeting formed part of Jetten's first international visit as Dutch head of government. He also visited several European institutions and NATO headquarters.

Yesterday, at the informal European Council in Alden Biesen, the 27 EU leaders reached broad agreement on three urgent priorities for Europe’s competitiveness.
First, we must bring down energy costs for our industry - including through reform of the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS). Europe cannot remain a global economic power if our companies are structurally disadvantaged.
Second, we will pursue far-reaching administrative simplification. Our entrepreneurs should spend their time innovating and creating jobs - not navigating unnecessary layers of regulation.
Third, we will strengthen the protection of our European market against unfair trade practices. Openness must go hand in hand with fairness.
The European Commission has been tasked with presenting a concrete roadmap by the formal European Council in March. The ambition is clear: deliver tangible results in the short term.
The discussions also went beyond the immediate.
In the longer term, Europe must evolve from a common market to a true One Market in savings and investments, telecom and energy. These are domains where scale is power and therefore integration is strength. We will strive to move forward with all 27 Member States, starting with pilot projects. If unanimity proves impossible, functional integration - with a frontrunner group of willing Member States - must allow progress. Europe cannot afford paralysis.
If we implement what we agreed in Alden Biesen, this summit may one day be remembered as an important turning point - the moment we made the mental shift toward a genuine One Market that strengthens our prosperity and strategic autonomy.
But history is not written by intentions. It is written by execution. Time for action.

🇧🇪 Belgium has now officially split its existing Motorized Brigade back into the 1st and 7th Brigades that formed it as part of an ongoing expansion of the force.
The 1st Brigade will be headquartered in Leopoldsburg and consist of the following units:
- ISTAR Battalion "Jagers te Paard"
- Cavalry Battalion "2/4 Lanciers"
- Infantry battalion "Bevrijding - 5de Linie"
- Infantry Battalion "Carabiniers – Grenadiers"
- Artillery battalion (likely to be renamed to 2nd Artillery battalion)
- 11th Engineering Battalion
- 18th Logistics battalion
- 10th CIS Group
The 7th Brigade will be headquartered in Marche-en-Famenne and consist of the following units:
- Cavalry Battalion "1/3 Lanciers"
- Infantry Battalion "Chasseurs Ardennais"
- Infantry battalion "12/13 Linie"
- 4th Engineering Battalion
- 4th Logistics Battalion
- 4th CIS Group
The brigade is also expected to receive an Artillery Battalion in the future.

Tous nos ambassadrices et ambassadeurs, venus des quatre coins du monde, réunis à Bruxelles pour une semaine.
C’est toujours un moment particulier. Parce que derrière la diplomatie, il y a des visages. Des femmes et des hommes qui vivent loin de chez eux, parfois dans des contextes instables ou difficiles, pour aider nos compatriotes, défendre nos intérêts et porter la voix de la Belgique.
Et le moment que nous traversons rend leur mission plus essentielle que jamais.
Le monde change vite. Le droit international est contesté. Les alliances deviennent transactionnelles. La force remplace trop souvent la règle.
Pour un pays comme la Belgique, l’isolement n’est pas une option. Notre sécurité, notre prospérité, notre influence dépendent de notre capacité à comprendre le monde, à anticiper les crises et à construire des partenariats solides.
C’est exactement ce que font nos ambassadrices et ambassadeurs, chaque jour. Elles et ils sont nos yeux et nos oreilles sur le terrain, ouvrent des portes pour nos entreprises et protègent nos citoyens en difficulté. Je suis profondément fier de leur engagement, de leur expertise et de leur humanité.
Dans un monde instable, notre diplomatie est une nécessité stratégique. C’est notre première ligne de protection.

🇧🇪 Vandaag heb ik in het Egmontpaleis de diplomatieke dagen geopend.
Al onze ambassadeurs, van overal ter wereld, een week lang samen in Brussel.
Dat blijft een bijzonder moment. Want achter diplomatie schuilen gezichten. Vrouwen en mannen die ver van huis werken, soms in onzekere of moeilijke omstandigheden, om Belgen te helpen, onze belangen te verdedigen en België een stem te geven in de wereld.
En net vandaag is hun opdracht belangrijker dan ooit.
De wereld verandert snel. Het internationaal recht staat onder druk. Allianties worden steeds meer transactioneel. Macht weegt vaker zwaarder dan regels.
Voor een land als België is isolatie geen optie. Onze veiligheid, onze welvaart en onze invloed hangen af van ons vermogen om de wereld te begrijpen, crisissen te voorspellen en sterke partnerschappen uit te bouwen.
Dat is precies wat onze ambassadrices en ambassadeurs elke dag doen. Zij zijn onze ogen en oren op het terrein. Ze openen deuren voor onze bedrijven. Ze helpen landgenoten in nood. Ik ben oprecht trots op hun inzet, hun expertise en hun menselijkheid.
In een onstabiele wereld is diplomatie een strategische noodzaak. Het is onze eerste verdedigingslinie.

Wat zeker waar is.
Een autonome Europese defensie zonder de VS of andere niet Europese bondgenoten betekent een drastische verhoging van de defensiebudgetten. Alleen al een nucleaire paraplu creëren en scherp houden kost honderden miljarden.
Uitpakken met ‘2% BBP ok, maar géén eurocent meer.’ krijg je niet in lijn met stoere uitspraken als ‘De NAVO is dood, en dat is een goede zaak, op naar een volledige autonome Europese defensie.’
Dat is de mensen blaasjes wijsmaken. Europese autonomie ovv defensie kost tonnen geld extra.
