Great work by @manonedde et al on protocol design for diffusion & myelin MRI. Three or five timepoints? Does it make a difference? sciencedirect.com/science/ar… Great academia-industry collaboration (@USherbrooke, @imeka_imaging, @Roche, @Philips)

Our annual reminder of the paucity of health research funding in Canada (to serve 40M people), when total CIHR funding is equivalent to about the total NIH funding for THREE U.S. universities. We have amazing scientists and science in Canada, and yet...
NIH funding by institution for FY 2023 1 Johns Hopkins U $518M 2 UCSF $451M 3 U Michigan $436M 4 Penn $434M 5 UCLA $424M 6 Stanford $407M 7 Mass General $406M 8 Wash U. $404M 9 Yale $390M 10 Pitt $382M 11 Columbia $362M 12 Duke $360M

All NeuroImage and NeuroImage:Reports editors have resigned over the high publication fee, and are starting a new non-profit journal imaging-neuroscience.org This comes with great regret, and a huge amount of thought and discussion- please read announcement to get more details.

We need to think harder about interpreting effect sizes.
Small effects might have large impact if they accumulate over time... but they might not. We can't just assume they will. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3599… Vaccines good example. If you measured outcomes after 2 weeks, vaccines slightly worsen them, but after that they improve them

I am looking for a postdoc to start this year or 2023. Candidate should have a PhD in neuroscience, machine learning or related fields. Topics are quite flexible (sites.google.com/view/yeolab…) and up for discussion. Appreciate RT.

Very pleased to have our first lab paper posted as a preprint: bit.ly/3Q8mz3c. We used the UKBB and identified a common biopsychosocial risk score that classified different chronic pain conditions and predicted the spreading or recovery of chronic pain nine years later.

You did it! Our amazing community of supporters collectively donated almost $65,000 to fund 1 year of Dr. Tétreault’s groundbreaking study on the links between the brain and arthritis pain treatments. For the 6 million Canadians with #arthritis: thank you! bit.ly/3OL7tk0

We know that coding knowledge is useful in neuroscience research, but how do we train our students when few bio instructors are proficient in coding and C.S. classes are full? 🤔 I tackle these issues in this NeuroView for @NeuroCellPress! authors.elsevier.com/a/1eOdV…

Great article on outlier detection & workup in the UK Biobank We need more discussion on what should be considered an outlier to be removed, e.g., for predictive analyses - Artifacts/Errors ? - Radiological findings ? - Scans w/o obvious reasons ? onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

Into graph-theoretical analysis of brain imaging data ? Better be careful 😱 Individual & group average (N = 200) graph measures on structural (DWI) and functional (RS-FC) connectivity differ massively as a function of brain parcellation !! ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article…
